WIP It Good!
I started this year with 26 unfinished WIPs on my computer. That is 26, at least from the beginning of 2010, when I started really writing again. All I have worked on since the end of December are my WIPs - (I'll be interested to see what that number looks like by the end of the year). But I have finished two of them! My Dean/Cas PWP, which I have been picking away at 500 words at a time since November, is with the beta and my Johanna/Annie fic, which I started last summer and then let sit for like seven months, is at that final editing stage. I think I may reward myself by starting some new porn this week, maybe Teen Wolf or Justified, depending on my mood.

So I thought, to help myself along with the Finish All The WIPs Project, I'd make up a little meme. Steal away, if you like!

Write up the following for the works-in-progress you currently have; Working Title, Current Word Count, First and Last Sentences/Paragraphs thus far.

515 E. Washington Street - 2,863 words.

He'd lived there longer than anyone else - not just the current tenants but the ones who'd come before as well. No one ever stayed longer than two years.

*

“I’m a lover, not a fighter,” Hardison said but followed after Eliot anyways, pulling the apartment door shut behind them as they went.

---

Almost, Never - 12,168 words.

The first time they did this in Jared’s house, Jensen was on edge for the whole night. He was nervous, glancing at the front door, sure Jared was going to walk in at any minute and bring Jensen’s world down around him with those eyes of his. With the disappointment and fear and loathing and all the things Jensen never wanted to see on the face of his best friend.

*

Because Tommy understood. He always understood.

---

And Breakfast In The Morning - 774 words.

Jared was a pretty good roommate, Jensen had to admit that. He hung up his bathroom towels and rinsed off his dirty dishes and most importantly, he took Jensen to parties that had liquor - the good kind, not the piss-water beer Jensen’s friends always had at their parties.

*

There was absolutely no doubt what they were headed upstairs to do.

---

Arcade - 997 words.

Dean was twelve the first time he met Castiel. They ran into each other, quite literally, at the prize counter at the local arcade. Cas dropped all his tickets on the floor and Dean bent down to help him pick them up.

*

Dean opened his mouth to say something, but he had no idea what. How could someone not have any friends at all? That didn’t seem right to him.

---

Better Off Now - 5,448 words.

Rob’s sitting in the booth of the coffee shop, nursing his lukewarm cup and flipping idly through a newspaper, instead of the script he should be reading, when he hears an oh-so-familiar voice say, “Fancy meeting you here, gorgeous.”

*

Even with his eyes still closed.

---

Boys Will Be Boys - 738 words.

They stood at the foot of the bed, the three of them, and watched him sleep.

*

Rachel and Jem shrugged, gathered up the rest of the beer and the Fruit Roll Ups and went to join them.

---

Color Coded for Your Convenience - 3,373 words.

Chad had heard about it, but he’d never thought it would come to his school.

*

Chad had started wondering if Jensen was pulling them out of his own collection or actually going to the store to buy them. That seemed like an awful lot of money just to court someone.

---

Embodiment - 258 words.

It's hard for Mike to stay away, with the memory of how Misha screams his name when he comes.

*

God, Mike is so screwed.

---

Endurance Of The Human Kind - 4,004 words.

“I hate this,” Castiel says, half into his pillow, head turned to look at Dean.

*

Dean finds he is suddenly anxious again.

---

Fly By Fire - 501 words.

Mal figured most everyone was trying to get to Fort Benning, but as far as Mal knew, he and Zoe were the only ones Fort Benning had left.

*

Still, he rolled up the window and holstered his gun.

---

Godless Country - 1,524 words.

There was nothing. Just a desolate land of ash. Hardly enough left for the wind to whistle through. All dead and cracked and broken.

*

The boy held his hand.

---

Hand Deliver Me From Evil - 168 words.

He’d admit, he’d had a few fantasies about running into Dean Winchester and his Angel again. In fact, he’d had more than a few of these fantasies. And some of them even included being tied up.

*

Whoever it was, this situation did not bode well for Lindsey and his all too mortal form.

---

In This Life, I See You Now - 554 words.

And Cas is walking away, headed towards the front door and Dean knows this is it and he has to do something, can’t just let Cas leave.

*

To be honest, he’d pretty much let Cas lead him everywhere for the rest their lives, but it’s probably too soon to say that out loud.

---

One More Shot - 1,556 words.

Jensen had spent every summer at his grandmother’s house since he was four. During the school year, his mom worked in a junior high school office; taking care of files, answering the phones, assisting parents and students and teachers. During the summer, she worked a crappy job at an all-night diner and because they were ‘nice’ enough to hold her job for her every year, she had to take whatever shifts they gave her, which usually meant the midnight to 8am gig. Unfortunately for her and Jensen, there weren’t a lot of middle of the night child care options. And anyways, his mom didn’t make enough money to pay for it, even if they could have found something.

*

“Maybe later,” Jensen had said instead and ate the rest of his cereal.

---

Rebel Alliance Or Something Like It - 3,818 words.

Sam and Dean were sitting in a ratty rundown bar somewhere in eastern Tennessee. It was late afternoon and they - well, let’s be honest, Dean - had decided that they needed some food in their stomachs before they headed off to their new gig.

*

“Me too, Sammy,” Dean said and shoved his brother off in the direction of food.

---

Shoulder To Shoulder - 117 words.

"We were a team, Raylan. You and me against the world. Taking care of our own. Then you left."

*

"You walked away first, Raylan. You walked away first."

---

Soaking In You - 1,539 words.

It was the adrenaline from the case, the pushpushpush and then the bottom drops out and all they are left with is a broken family and a woman behind bars.

*

Martin kissed his way up higher this time, up to Danny’s inner thigh and then across, along Danny’s stomach and back down the other side, into the other hip, pressed against the sharp bone there and Danny was leaking everywhere and Martin wasn’t touching anything that he wanted him to and a frustrated groan came spilling out of him, but it only served to make Martin chuckle and go slower than he had been before.

---

The House & The Hunters - 3,077 words.

It was late enough in the morning that even if he’d tried to ignore the stupid phone buzzing at him, he probably wouldn’t have fallen back to sleep anyways, but still early enough that he wasn’t quite sure which was way was up.

*

“I know,” Cas said quietly without looking away from the other man’s gaze.

---

The Jacket - 2,015 words.

“Dude,” Jensen said and rolled his eyes at Jared. “We are here to buy me jeans.”

*

Not that he was having fantasies about Jensen.

---

This Is Home - 608 words.

“Steve, please, I’m asking you. Take care of my daughter. For me.”

*

“Lead the way,” he told her then and followed her out the door.

---

Tollbooth - 158 words.

Jared went through the toll five days a week, at 8:15 am, almost to the minute. He had an EZ-Pass, so for the first several months, he just swiped and went on his way. Then one day, late August, he forgot his card and had to wait in line with the other amateur slumps at the toll booth.

*

Jared turned a terrible shade of red - it wasn’t really his color - and stumbled out an, “Oh, shit, I’m not…crap.”

---

Westwood - 878 words.

It was just one of those days. Jason could feel it creeping into him like a cold rush through the bones.

*

Jason was so used to it by now, he didn’t even choke on his pretzel. Much.

---

Wincityers - 820 words.

Dean had to scrape the final remains of the Cool Whip - name brand and not out of a can - off the bottom of the bowl and scoop it onto his piece of pie. Apparently Gabriel had been in his fridge again, despite that he was insistent that he would only eat organic food from the health store, Gabriel still seemed to find his way across the hall to eat the last of Dean’s Cool Whip before placing the empty container back in the fridge.

*

“I hate you both,” Dean grumbled.

---

With My Heart Pounding Down That Broken Path - 1,633 words.

The house was empty when he went inside and Stiles flipped on the light switch with familiarity, more accustomed to coming home in the dark than anything else. Soccer practice had run long and the sun was setting when he started home, waving off his coach’s offer for a ride.

*

She dismissed him for good this time and Stiles made a mad dash for the lunch room, but in the end, he barely tasted his food. His mind kept running over whether or not Ms. Lyons was just being a good teacher or if she had started to pick up on the fact that Stiles was more alone than he wanted to admit.

---

END

I don't expect to have them all done by the end of the year, since I have many other ideas I want to work on, but half would be nice.

There's something about a lot of these that feel like a complete story, just a flash fiction.

That's a good thing, I'd say.

Thanks, darling! I got this comment right before bed the night I posted and I definitely went to bed smiling! :)

the J2s! That's what I want!

lol I'm so shocked by this! ;)

Not that many were J2 actually. Only two of them. I really want to finish 'Almost, Never' but it was such heavy material and I would have to go back to that emotional place I was in when I was writing it. But it seems like after investing 12k, I should finish the damn thing, doesn't it?

LOLOLOLOL I'm sure you're not at all surprised by which one I'm interested in. Rachel and Jem are like theBo and Kenzi of the SPN verse: the BFFs to end all BFFs.

I'm sure you're not at all surprised by which one I'm interested in.

Just to reiterate our dinner conversation yesterday - NO, I AM NOT SURPRISED AT ALL! I knew which WIP your eyes would go directly to.

Rachel and Jem are like theBo and Kenzi of the SPN verse

Agreed, but unlike Bo & Kenzi, I know you ship Rachel/Jem. Come on, right?
