The Love Yourself Meme.
Heehee, the 'Love Yourself' Meme sounds dirty. This meme didn't seem to have a name, so I just made that name up - it seems fitting. I got tagged for this over on Tumblr, and though I am often too lazy to do these things, it was my first Tumblr meme-tag, so I jumped on it. Then it turned out to be an interesting meme. We are kind of taught not to go around bragging on ourselves, no matter how awesome we are, so this meme sort of forces our hand and makes us say nice things about ourselves. And I know a lot of people don't think about the things they have to offer or their good traits and this kind of forces you to look at yourself and be nice to yourself. Which sounds really sappy, but sometimes we just need to stop being such fucking goths about everything!

Anyways, I liked my answers over on Tumblr, so I thought I'd repost the meme here. And maybe tag some peeps - some of you who are still pretty active on LJ and might want to do this. Though you all deserve to think nice things about yourself and brag a little about your awesomeness. So feel free to grab and hit up your own peeps with this!

Here we go!

When you get this you have to say 5 nice things about yourself publicly, then send it to 10 of your favorite followers!

1. I am creative and full of ideas and various art forms.

2. I have no filter, which I view as a plus, because it results in some hysterical and awesome conversations.

3. I am always willing to converse with you about whatever you are interested in, even if I don’t know anything about it.

4. I am good with kids, entertaining them and treating them like equals (minus my usual cussing).

5. I’m gonna be straight up…I have excellent cleavage. (See #2)

And now I tag! dugindeep, shirebound, denig37, enablelove, lindahoyland, vikingprincess, elfscribe5, misslucyjane, princesslanie & sarahk_63.

This has been Pig N A Post #3, for Tuesday. I missed a week while The Canadians were home and oh boy, do I have some adorable stories about the kids to share! Hopefully Thursday!

Of course! It did feel very weird to me at first to be like putting up a list of things about myself.

1. I've written over 200 stories

Wow! I am impressed! Now are they all in the Middle-earth sphere or have you ever delved into other areas? Just curious, because I basically started in LOTR but kind of moved my way through some other things in the last 13 years or so.

I love that two of your answers equals out to, 'I love cats and cats love me!' I always say, if a person is an animal lover and the animals love them back, that is the best judge of character right there.

You are good with a camera. I love all of your nature shots.

What a great list of wonderful things!
lindahoylandlindahoyland on August 8th, 2014 08:53 pm (UTC)
Thank you. I admit writing 5 bad things about myself would be way easier!I'm pleased you like my photos.

The stories are 99% LOTR. I started out though writing Star Trek Voyager and wrote 2 stories. I've written a short story that is a LOTR/Harrry Potter? ST TNG crossover and a drabble that is LOTR/ Just William. "Carefully Taught" is inspired by "Temeraire but not officially a crossover.

According to ff.net "Author has written 226 stories for StarTrek: Voyager, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter."

I must also have about 70 languishing stories that I'm just too lazy I lack motivation to polish and post.

I'm proud that cats like me!

I feel you on that - I feel like I'd have to post fic three times a week for a year, just to get everything I have waiting to be polished and posted actually put up anywhere.

It's a comfort to know I'm not the only one!

Ugh, you're back to school! Hope it is going well. I am still working on your special story - got a little stalled out by surprise visitors, but it'll get done eventually!

Going to read your meme post now! I am sure it is full up with, "I am AWESOME!" because you ARE!

The first day and a half with the kids were awesome, despite having Shakespeare taken out of the mix. They woke up and smelled the reality (which is that they needed a LOT more electives than they had provided), and I have one section of Imaginative Writing back in my lineup instead. I can deal with that.

I think you already know most of the stuff on my list - except for one trait that I totally stole from your list! :)

I agree with those things :) I suck at entertaining them - would rather have a lesson lol

Awwww, thank you! I love entertaining kids - I worked in early childhood education for about ten years, preschools and child care, but 90% of the time in the preschool age room and you have to be a good entertainer to keep them occupied. Zany and silly. No shame, that was always my motto. I am the like the oppsite of you, I think - even if I had a lesson plan, I probably would sway from it! :) What is your classroom age again - third grade, right?

Hi Dodger, just noticed you tagged me. How sweet! I have to say 5 nice things about myself? Okay, I'll try to do it here rather than pass it along. This is difficult, you know, usually I have this internal critic that is pretty hard on me, so it's easy to find bad things to say, but good things, okay . . .
1)I'm a kind, empathic, and generous friend, willing to listen and sympathize and to laugh.
2)I care about many social causes and contribute to the best of my ability.
3)I'm a good organizer, planner. As a result I was . . .
4)damn good at my job which required me to be a jack of all trades.
5)I am creative through sheer hard work.

Btw, I really liked your 5 best things and excellent cleavage is a good plus. Mine is a bit more excellent than it used to be and more so than I'd like right now as I weigh about 10lbs. more than I'd like to. :-D

I think everyone could use the pick-me up this meme offers, but it is hard to go against the internal negativity and even harder to be outright positive about ourselves. It's why I almost didn't do the meme and then why I decided more people should actually try it - it goes against our nature to be all like, "This is why I am awesome!" but it felt pretty good to do!

I totally agree with all of your awesome traits! Those are wonderful things you listed!

LOL, it is a win-lose situation. I am about 15lbs heavier than I was 5 years ago, but a lot of it went straight to my chest, so heavier but with much more excellent cleavage. It's a trade off, though there are a lot of my cute clothes I can no longer get into that I miss wearing. But the cleavage is a totally a bonus!

Damn, why didn't I think to put about my cleavage too? I love my boobs, they are awesome...I also have no filter, but it makes us lovable right?

I always thought when I was younger it wasn't something we were suppose to be proud of, but then I was like, "Fuck it, I love my boobs!" In my push up bra, I look fucking hot. With so much negativity coming from the disability about my body, it is nice to put on a v-neck and be like, "My boobs are slamming!"

No filter is the best! I mean, I try to be respectful and like not cuss and talk about pervy things around kids and stuff, but mostly, I am just like, "Yeah, this is who I am, deal with it!" And it's lead to me meeting and connecting with some awesome people!

You totally have no filter and it is why I love you so much!!! <3
lizibabes: A&T featherslizibabes on August 18th, 2014 06:51 pm (UTC)
I think we're told at an early age not to love are bodies, to hide them, be almost ashamed. Which is just bullshit, it's good and healthy for us to love are boobs!!

And yes when your body isn't always the way you'd like it to be, it's nice to have parts that you can easily love. I wore a new dress while I was away and I think my boobs looked awesome in it, which made me happy lol

I'm the same, I have a slight kid filter when it comes to cussing and my pervy side, but not like a real filter.

Your right that are lack of filter leads to great connections

Love you too babe <3
