Imagination Land!
So The Canadian Kids are now preschool age - TCNephew turned 3 in May and TCNiece turns 5 in November. It's a good age.

TCNephew is really into superheroes and action figures at the moment. He has a Darth Vader figure, but he calls him 'Darth Smader'. He found a flashlight in the cupboard and decided it was a lightsaber and went around yelling, "Pew, pew, Darth Smader is in your house!" (He says 'pew pew' for everything; guns, lightsabers, karate chopping).

They got in their pajamas one night and then decided it was time to play dress up. TCNiece dressed up as a princess and TCNephew was wearing his Batman pajamas and also a Captain America mask. So my sister got out the Darth Vader helmet and put it on me - (I was also wearing My Little Pony pajamas and had a fairy wand as a lightsaber, if you can imagine that visual) - and we took pictures. Then my sister declared that she was Princess Leia and so TCNiece put on the Darth Vader helmet and started yelling at my sister, "I you Dad! Clean you room! Go to bed!" and my sister goes, "No, I want to go out with my boyfriend," and randomly picked up the Beast action figure and said, "This is my boyfriend, Dr. Beast. He's a doctor." TCNiece yelled, "No! Clean you room and go to bed! I you dad!" and grabbed Beast from my sister's hand. My sister started fake-crying and said, "You're just racist against blue people, Dad!" and then TCNephew put his Captain America mask on and ran over and said, "Go to bed! Now go to bed!" and the two of them continued to 'parent' Princess Leia like this. I was not even aware that Darth Vader and Captain America were in a relationship, let alone that they had a child together!

TCNiece's favorite thing to do here is to play with my sister's baby doll from when she was a child. She kept making me change the baby's diaper and then going, "Wheeeesh, she pee on you." So TCNephew runs over with a blanket and goes, "I wipe up you pee," and proceeds to wipe me down and then put the blanket in the imaginary washing machine. Then the baby doll started throwing up. Every time I tried to tend to the baby, TCNiece would declare she was peeing or puking on me and make the noises to go with it. Finally I decided we needed to call a doctor but TCNiece woudn't stop making the peeing/puking nosies so TCNephew called 911 and the firemen came and the baby was still peeing and puking and TCNiece refused to take her to the doctor and finally I declared. "Alright, you aren't properly caring for this child. Social Services is taking her away and sending her to the hospital. Something is very wrong with this poor baby." Then I wrapped her in a blanket and took her into the bathroom and set her on the shower seat, because that was clearly the hospital. Social Services was obviously right because TCNiece never even went to visit her baby in the hospital and instead got immediately distracted by some other game, and in the morning when she went to get ready for work, my sister found the baby stil in the 'hospital'.

Also, one day I went and laid down for a litle rest and when I got up, my hair was sticking up so I asked TCNiece if she would brush my hair for me. But she decided she didn't like the barrette I had in so I got out the rest of my barrettes and asked her which one she wanted. I have a set of about 30 little plastic flower ones and she proceeded to put every single one in my hair - all 30, all the way around my head. Then she proudly showed it off to everyone, - "Look, I do her hair!" - and my sister took a bunch of pictures of it.

It was a wacky fun week!

You are very welcome! It was a really good week with The Canadian kids - they are ridiculously entertaining! And the little boy actually knows it, so he plays it up and it is so freaking cute! :)

Their imaginations are off the charts!! And their crazy Michigan aunts are totally down with playing into whatever zany thing they have thought up, so of course, they take full advantage! Poor baby doll though, spending all night in that bathroom hospital. ;)

I won't post pics of other people (or their kids) on the internet without asking them first (rules of etiquette people on Facebook need to learn) and in this case, it would involve having to explain my journal to the Canadian Brother (unlike my little brother who once told me, "I know you have a blog. I don't need to see what's in your head though.") CBrother would want to look at my journal first so....No. But if you reply to this comment, it will help remind me to email them to you later when I am on the other computer and have access to my photos. Because you are spoiled and also, the pics are awesome. :)

They totally are! TAHtm's little brother's kids are like that too. The three year old nephew likes Star Wars a WHOLE lot - he and his mommy make movies sometimes. And the six year old --almost seven now, wow!-- niece really digs her martial arts classes (Kung Fu) AND playing pretend. They're great kids.

That sounds like a totally reasonable way to do it. You DO spoil me! :D

When I worked at Kmart, we used to have these kid slippers with plastic figures on them.

One time some little girl was quietly playing with four of them. She had Barney, Snow White, Batman and Spiderman. And I think she had their characters down pretty good too! Barney and Snow White would sing at Spiderman and Batman. Spidey would sing back, but boy was Batman getting annoyed. Bats kinda' growled at Barney. LOL.

I was trying not to laugh, as I didn't want her to think I was laughing at her in a mean way.

OMG, that is the cutest story ever! Imaginative kids are the best! :)
