What's Your Pirate Name?
Today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day! Sadly, I don't actually own a pirate (or POTC) shirt, so I'm just wearing my new Spiderman tee. I should take a picture - it's super cool and all retro and shit. Anyways, I went looking for a graphic to post to celebrate this fantastic holiday and came across a quiz that gives you your pirate name.

My pirate name is: Mad Morgan Kidd!
Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate.

I like it! Come on, tell me what your pirate name is! Take the quiz here!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!

My pirate name is Captain Morgan Cash.
Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

I don't like it. Boo! But I did take the photo of the Pirate Keyboard to school and show it to kids for them to tell me why it was funny. :D

But you're musical and have style! I think I just liked that my pirate last name was 'Kidd'.

Oh yeah, the pirate keyboard! It's the best! I love that thing. Your students all got the joke, right?!

I'm Bloody Anne Flint, that's a fun quiz.

Oh and I just saw The Maze Runner, good movie. I think you'd like it, it features a lot of Dylan O'Brien's face and now I need to read the book.

Oooooh, Bloody Anne Flint is the best one I've seen yet! That is a great pirate name! Man, you should save that name for a fic sometime!

LOL - it features a lot of Dylan O'Brien's face - ahahaha! I saw on your Tumblr that you tagged a recent gif of him 'someone shave him please' and I had to laugh because I love the 'hobo-look' (as The BFF calls it and mocked me for liking it - she was also screaming for someone to shave his face). I like the scruffy 'just fell out of bed' hair and the facial hair on him! But I think we can both agree that his fingers are made of perfection. My god, his fingers.

Actually J is wanting to catch a movie this weekend, just getting the itch to go to the theater, but there isn't anything showing that really interests her, so I am going to push for The Maze Runner, per your recommendation!

Its a solid and fun movie, very much an action movie with a good cast. Also I don't think I'll be reading the book, the people I know who've read it said its a basic and not too special dystopia.

Yeah, I like his hair but the combo of hair and that particular facial hair is a bit much for me.

That's my issue with Days of Future Past Charles too. I like McAvoy with a beard and he can make long hair work, its just the combo's odd.

The BFF started it and was not impressed - said it was fine, but just like every other YA dystopia she'd read with some boy in the lead, so she bailed. But she does want to see the movie, so I've got her vote on my side for Saturday!

I like my men scruffy! Plus, I think it ages him up a bit and my love for Stiles is great but I've never been able to crush much on Dylan because of how young he always looks. The scruffy-look helps that!

LOL I am so the opposite - I loved the scruff combo on him. So, what, do I just like my men hairy? 8O lol

Yeah, that's what my librarian mentor said too, that it was a classic guys' read but the movie is good.

I like my men scruffy too, but I think its how its done. Think of MacBeth McAvoy, not as long hair and beard, that's my sweet spot for him. Example in the icon. Or shorter hair but beard, it makes me happy, I love his ginger beard. Just his hair in Days of Future Past didn't really click for me, a little too scraggly.

Dylan O'Brien is delicious, I've never had that particular problem of him looking too young. Possibly reading my friends Sterek fics influenced but he's pretty. I'd rather see him with a goatee or better beard than neck beard since long hair looks good.

I look forward to your thoughts on The Maze Runner.

Hopefully I can talk J into The Maze Runner as well!

I like my men with facial hair - most of them, anyways. Elijah really needs to never do the goatee! It just never grows right, lol. And also, like no crazy-deserted-island beards either or Duck Dynasty beards - that's WAY too much for me! ;)

Macbeth-McAvoy is my favorite as well!

We're a motley pirate family.

Did you know there's a book called sodomy and the piratical tradition?

I did not! Is it the one that is about how cabin boys were expected to service the rest of the crew? Cuz apparently that's a real thing that used to happen.

I've never read it, but I heard about it on a show I watch, two of the guys had read it. It's meant to be very good, historically accurate, but yes I think it's along those lines.

So a pirate AU story would be close to the truth, but it'd take a lot of research for a long one. We'll see, tons of research hasn't stopped me before.
