Marchin On.
This afternoon I was in the living room and I looked out our big front windows and saw that the sky was this wall of dark grey mass, and yet the sun was shining beautifully down on everything in an almost surreal way and the trees were blowing in the wind just enough to send a light shower of falling leaves down.

It was gorgeous. I wished I had a camera so I could step outside and take a picture of the perfect autumn day.

Then I went and took a shower, leaving the bathroom light as the only light on in the whole house. When I was done, I opened the bathroom door and was met with complete blackness, as black as night. I went into the living room and looked out and it was like nighttime outside. At 3 in the afternoon.

I went back in the bathroom and did my hair and whatnot and came back out and it was light again, but grey with no sun. And it was snowing.

Yes, I said SNOWING. Pretty steadily and sticking to the ground. After about 15 minutes of that, it was raining. And after about fifteen minutes of rain, it was snowing again, only this time we had a good five minutes of nearly white-out conditions. My sister had a commitment at church at 6pm, which is about ten minutes after she usually arrives home, so fearing that the white-out would cause her to be late, she left work an hour early. It is November and she has already had her first bout of leaving work early due to the weather. We didn't even make it to Thanksgiving this year before we got snow. That does not bode well for the rest of the season.

And there is still snow stuck to the ground now.

Other things...matchboximpala was asking for the link to the fanvid done to OneRepublic's "Marchin On." She didn't specify which fandom, but I am assuming she wanted the SPN one. At any rate, I have both the Harry Potter version and the Supernatural version here for your viewing pleasure.

I saw this one first and it was fanfuckingtastic. Sometimes I forget how much I love Harry Potter. I literally felt like I couldn't breathe. And yeah, okay, I maybe cried a little. I am sure I was pms-ing or something.

On a personal note: I want to scoop Fred and George up and hug them until I die. Also, I am not tearing up. Nope.

Then I saw the SPN vid - (and there were a few options on youtube but I think this is the one that was floating around fandom rec lists awhile back) - and I was all, "No! That song belongs to Harry Potter!" but then I watched it and...wow. Okay, just...it's beautiful. And yeah, okay, I maybe cried a little. Shut up, I am a girl, I have boobs, I can cry if I want too!

BROTHERS!!

I really love this song quite a ridiculous bit as well.

Oh crap. I'm crying again. Son of @&#$%!

Seriously, snow on the mother@!&*%#@ ground, peoples.

Thanks for sharing!!! That fanvid for Harry Potter with Marching On is what I normally associate with the song ever since I saw it... But the SPN one was beautiful in its own right~ lol at the song break with the person asking for queen size bed! ^_^ And Chuck was a nice addition to the ending~

(btw, it snowed like a flurry for 10 minutes at my college)

Your welcome! I always think of Harry Potter and the awesomeness of that vid whenever I hear this song - I almost didn't watch the SPN one just because I was like, "No way it is as good as the Harry Potter one."

Chuck at the end of that SPN vid really sold it for me - he's writing the Story of Sam and Dean!

(btw, it snowed like a flurry for 10 minutes at my college)

I am so not ready for winter yet.

Dood, where do you live, like, the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory of Weather?

This is the season in which I am most happy and comfortable, able to sleep under blankets and wear sweaters and jackets and not sweat all day and all night. I am cheerful in cool weather.

Dood, where do you live, like, the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory of Weather?

lol The other day I came out of the shower again to find it pitch black in the afternoon and my brain immediately went, "Willy Wonka Factory of Weather." Luckily it was just raining that time.

I love the autumn weather but not the winter. I hate winter. It's harder for me to get out of the house and though I do love a good snuggle under the blankets with the cats, eventually I have to get out of bed and it is so freaking cold. Really, idk why anyone ever settled in Michigan in the first place.

I was having lunch when it started snowing here and got a few pictures. It makes me happy though cold.
dodger_sister: weatherdodger_sister on November 17th, 2011 07:38 pm (UTC)
I actually thought of you when it started snowing. Because this is just the beginning and soon you will have to be walking around in 2 feet of snow and that is just madness.

I do think snow is beautiful, I just don't look forward to how long our winter lasts. Of course, I get upset if there isn't snow for Christmas, so...yeah. Oh, pictures - you had a gorgeous picture of the graduate library in the snow awhile back.

My sister used to have a camera before she got her Iphone. I wonder if she still does. I should find out. I miss taking pictures.

snow on the mother@!&*%#@ ground,

This made me giggle like the schoolgirl I am not. And i heard it in Samuel Jackson's voice, which made it better.
dodger_sister: weatherdodger_sister on November 17th, 2011 07:52 pm (UTC)
I have had it with all this motherfucking snow on the motherfucking ground!!

I am honored that my words were played out in your head in Samuel L Jackson's voice.

Don't say things like that! I just know if the weather we have been having is any indictaion, this winter is going to suck monkey balls.

COLD monkey balls, no less.

OHHHHHH! Thank you so much. That *was* the SPN video I was searching for. I did a YouTube search a while back for Marchin On and found an SPN fanvid that I didn't like so much and didn't remember as the one I thought was so amazing. This was it! I hadn't seen the HP one, but that was great, too.

This afternoon I decided to watch Hachi: A Dog's Tale while I was working on a project and the project went ignored as I got completely sucked in. I bawled my eyes out. If I actually *knew* Jared Padalecki, I'd do everything in my power to prevent him from seeing that movie.

Back to catching up on my flist now. It's been a few days, because I logged in briefly Friday evening and in my inbox was a posting that spoiled Friday's episode for me, so I logged back out and didn't want to return til I had watched it.

urgh.
dodger_sister: bros winchesterdodger_sister on November 17th, 2011 07:57 pm (UTC)
YAY! You're very welcome. I watched one SPN "Marchin On" vid and it wasn't that and then I watched a second one and I was like, "This is the one." Glad it was the same one you wanted. It's just amazingly well edited and the vidder picked the exact right clips to rip at our heart strings. 8)

I didn't know what "A Dog's Tale" was so I went and looked it up and yeah, neither Jared nor my sister should watch that. Have you ever seen "8 Below" about the dogs left stranded in Antartica? My sister bawls every time (I cried the first time and then again when we stupidly researched the true story behind it and found out that not as many dogs lived as in the movie).
Trigger Warning: Lifematchboximpala on November 21st, 2011 04:02 am (UTC)
I haven't seen "8 Below," for the reason you stated. I know I'll bawl my eyes out.

Hey, I watched the first episode of Death Valley and it made me laugh out loud multiple times, so I'm giving it a go. Thanks for the recommendation.
dodger_sister: death valleydodger_sister on November 21st, 2011 07:57 pm (UTC)
YES! I will recruit the whole world into watching Death Valley! (I am currently at 3 people recruited, so only a few billion more people to go). You were someone I particulary thought would enjoy it, so I am glad you did.

Dude, snow?! Well, I shouldn't sound surprised, we had snow in October last year, but still. Snow?! I'm not jealous. I'm really, really not. I hope to get at least another week before the snow comes.

*watches HP vid*

Holy shit. I'm all choked up now. That was fanfuckingtastic, just like you said.

*watches SPN vid*

Aaaaaw, brother love! Now I'm all choked up again!

Thanks for those, bb, I'm gonna favorite them right away! :)
dodger_sister: dumbledores armydodger_sister on November 17th, 2011 08:03 pm (UTC)
We have had a few light flurries since, but nothing like that first day. I hope it doesn't happen again for a little while anyways. Our winters last long enough as is.

That Harry Potter vid makes me want to do something, idk...like stand up and salute or something. It's unreal.

There is just something about the way Sam and Dean just get each other that will always be beautiful.

I am sorry you got all choked up (except not really because if I have to be crying like a girl then so do you!). Have a tissue. /hands over tissue/
wolfrider89: Em smishwolfrider89 on November 17th, 2011 08:43 pm (UTC)
Dude, I just got ridicously happy that I had a comment from you in my inbox. I'm not needy. Seriously. I was just not having the best night, and then there you were, talking about these awesome vids and now it's a bit better. So thanks. *hugs*

We had, like, six months of snow last year, so it can just keep away for as long as possible, no worries. I won't even complain if there's no snow in Christmas, I promise!

Now I want to watch that HP vid again and get all choked up. Thanks for the tissues. *dabs at eyes*
dodger_sister: dark alecdodger_sister on November 17th, 2011 08:56 pm (UTC)
Babe, I'm sorry you are having a sucky night. I am glad hearing from me makes you feel better though (I'm all blushy now).

Do you want to hear something that will cheer you up?

Over the weekend, myself/the sister/the bff had a friend in to visit and the four of us all watched a shitload of Dark Alec and Castiel-season five (my sister called it Dark Alec Con 2011 and Cas!Con 2011). She asked her Flist for recs of stories featuring both Alec and Castiel and no one had anything for her.

But I did!!! I printed out that fic you wrote me and passed it around the living room and we all fangirled out like big dorks over it. My sister said it was the convention's fanfic contest and you totally won. To be fair, your fic was the only entry but still - YOU RULE!!

I have to go eat a chocolate taco now. Hope things pick up for you, baby! /kiss/
wolfrider89: Casmallowwolfrider89 on November 18th, 2011 07:06 am (UTC)
Aaaw, now I'm all blusy! That's so awesome! *bounce*

I should totally do a Cas!Con and a Dark Alec con with the roommate, that sounds awesome. :) And yay, I won the fanfiction contest! :D

Mmm, chocolate taco sounds delicious and strange at the same time. Hope you enjoyed it! And thanks for the cheering up, it helped a lot. *smishes*
dodger_sister: fooddodger_sister on November 21st, 2011 08:15 pm (UTC)
Chocolate Taco sounds disgusting but actually it is chocolate syrup, ice cream and waffle cone. The waffle cone is shaped like a taco shell and there is vanilla ice cream inside and the whole thing is covered with frozen chocolate syrup. It's like a sugar induced coma of heaven.
wolfrider89: Em Hardison/Parker hugwolfrider89 on November 22nd, 2011 08:09 pm (UTC)
Dude, mouth watering over here! Want! (Also, way to have an appropriate icon for that!)
dodger_sister: fooddodger_sister on November 22nd, 2011 08:56 pm (UTC)
I do have an unhealthy relationship with my icons, but it means I have one for every occassion! My "food" icon used to be just a picture of a chocolate cake shaped like a heart, but I just recently switched it out to this one, which I adore. Dawn just looks so blissful and happy with her milkshake.
wolfrider89: Em Misha approveswolfrider89 on November 23rd, 2011 08:11 am (UTC)
I want to have one for every occasion too! It feels wrong to comment on something about... uh, chocolate for instance and not have a chocolate icon! :P
She does, doesn't she? Can't blame her, that seems like an awesome milkshake and I want it!
ranua: plain sunsetranua on November 17th, 2011 11:56 am (UTC)
oh gods! those vids! Yes, the crying is totally pms related. *sniffs & drys eyes*

I'm dreading the snow coming. :( I so don't wanna drive in it. So far we've been really lucky and every time it's been in the forecast it's missed us. I feel bad for the people who are getting it, but I'm damned happy it's not me. :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that this is the worst it gets for ya'll.
dodger_sister: weatherdodger_sister on November 17th, 2011 08:09 pm (UTC)
I'm not crying, it's just been raining on my face!

Those vids were awesome. I am always in awe of vidders who can pull that much emotion out of their viewers. I want to fight evil wizards and demons now. (okay, I wanted to do that before these vids but now I want to do it with this song as my theme song!)

I can't imagine having a driving job and having to deal with snow every day. I like snow from Thanksgiving until New Years and then it isn't pretty anymore and it should go away! It has snowed lightly a few times this week but nothing that stuck to the ground and nothing like that first snow. But it's coming, I know it is.
ranuaranua on November 21st, 2011 12:05 pm (UTC)
Driving while it's snowing actually doesn't happen too often, maybe 2-3 times a season, so that's not too bad. As long as the roads get cleared quickly it's just another day at work. *shrugs* (I still loathe being cold though and wet feet *shudders* that's the worst)

I like snow from Thanksgiving until New Years I agree! It's like the perfect outdoor decoration. By mid January I'm done with it.
