Go Mets! Go Nephew! Go FanFic!
GO METS!!! I know some of you are shocked to hear me say that, but I used to watch The Mets a bit back in the day and anyways, you gotta throw out some love to fellow competitors when they deserve it. And The Mets deserve it - Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in the history of the team!!!!! Congrats, Santana!! (I kind of can't wait to see Jon Stewart's reaction come Monday night's program).

In family news, The Nephew went to a birthday party at a Bouncy House/Arcade place. His dad was playing this shooting game and it was two player but The Nephew said he didn't want to play, that he would just watch. Then this little kid came over and picked up the second gun and started pretending that he was shooting too. So The Nephew turns to the kid and says, "Do you want to play? You can play, I have money," and pulls two quarters out of his pocket and puts them in the game so the kid can play. How awesome is my boy?! When they were walking away, my brother stops him and says, "Buddy, I know that kid didn't say 'thank you', but that was a really nice thing you did," and The Nephew goes, "Yeah. I know." I LOVE THAT KID!!

For my birthday, The BFF wrote me a story. I don't want to say too much about it because she only gave me the first chapter - she hasn't finished the rest and I know that I get protective of my own fic while I am still working on it. But I will say this...it is Jensen/Misha and it is awesome!!! I am so excited for you all to get to read this when she is done. But in the meantime you should go read the fic she wrote for her birthday, wherein Sam and Dean hunt a ghost in The White House and Sam gets his nerd on. Hail To The Chief.

Also, vikingprincess wrote me another chapter in her 'Chain Link Fence' verse and if you haven't read it, you should. It is The Walking Dead fic about Shane and Rick's relationship starting when they meet in elementary school, then middle school, and the piece she wrote for my birthday wherein they are in high school. She captures all the things I love about their friendship and manages to tackle the difficult job of writing Shane POV perfectly. Read it and then poke her to write the final (or final two?) pieces in the 'verse. Fast Car is here and there are links to the previous two stories found in the header.

Also, THANKS A BAZILLION to fragrantwoods for the fireworks V-gift (someday we will have scratch-n-sniff computers so I can smell the perfect afterburn - what? Yes, I like the smell of fireworks) and denyce for the delicious looking cupcake!!

I am slowly catching up on LJ-things after having gotten so far behind when my brother was visiting and then the week of sleeping that followed. I am making myself not comment on everything, and I'll be slowly picking away at it this week.

In Sum: I have Law And Order: SVU on in the background and Garret Dillahunt is playing a creepy ass child-molester. How can a guy that funny play a guy that creepy?

Garrett Dillahunt, you should see him play a creepy, hooker-slashing-and-killing psycho on Deadwood!

I saw him in the first season of Deadwood playing the gambler who kills Wild Bill and he was amazing. I haven't yet seen season two but my sister says he is unrecoginizable as the same actor. I know he can do serious because I first saw him as a Terminator in the Sarah Connor Chronicles but since seeing him on Raising Hope it is hard not to think about anything else - his comedic timing is so good.

Aw, you recced me, yay! :) There will be three more pieces: 2000, 2005, and 2010 (when the show actually starts). And they will tweak Carl's age a smidge, but meh, so what? It's all about the unrequited pre-slash, baby!

The Nephew is the bomb - and kudos to your brother for telling him how nice he was to do that, too.

Hail to the Chief was big fun, for sure.

Aw, you recced me, yay!

Cuz you're awesome!! Three more pieces to the 'verse? YAY!!!

Have they ever actually said how old Carl is? It's hard to tell with kids because the actors are always playing younger than they are. Handwave cuz it IS all about the unrequited pre-slash!

Thank you - I think so too! My brother was so proud of his boy, he has been telling everyone that story. :)

You read it! She has been talking about this idea for so long that Biden as a hunter has kind of become a running joke around the house, so I was so psyched when she wrote it!
Ironlily - Making My Marquevikingprincess on June 7th, 2012 11:28 pm (UTC)
Oh, Carl is probably supposed to be around twelve... but really, who cares? I think the kid playing him was fourteen this last season. For the sake of the story, though, Carl's age will experience the awesome power of the handwave. :)

It would certainly explain why he "accidentally" gave his approval to gay marriage (thereby forcing Obama's hand). Because a hunter really would not care about something so darned petty and non-threatening to the human race!

The Nephew is certainly growing into a wonderful little man. Such a doll.

I totally agree, the smell of fireworks is one of those perfect smells.

Thank you! He is such an adorable little guy - sometimes he can be so grown up about things, it is too cute.

Once we got fireworks after a Tiger game at the stadium and the show wasn't that great but the after-burn smelled SO good - I wanted to hang out for a bit afterwards.

The Nephew is so awesome it's stunning. That's a good kid, that. :)

You're getting Jensen/Misha fic for your b-day? Awesome! There is not enough Jensen/Misha fic in the world.
dodger_sister: wee!sammydodger_sister on June 27th, 2012 08:11 pm (UTC)
The Nephew is really turning out incredibly wonderful. His dad has been volunteering at a food bank for the poor and since school got out for the summer, he has been taking The Nephew with him. The Nephew helps pack up people's boxes of food and hands them out and always tell the customers 'thank you for coming'. I am really proud of him and of my brother for encouraging him to think of others first.

I am getting Jensen/Misha fic for my birthday!! The BFF got a temp job recently so the writing on it has slowed down a little, but I will patiently wait as long as it takes. It's a HS AU, baby! I am excited!

He's gonna grow up to be an incredible person. Not that he isn't already. Just... he's awesome. And that's great about the food bank!

You're getting HS AU Jensen/Misha fic?! I'm excited FOR you! Awesome present is awesome! :D

I asked The BFF about the fic today and she said it has kind of stalled and she is thinking of posting it as a WIP to see if that spurs her along. I encouraged her to do that and then told her that you and I are patiently waiting for it. I said our goal for the fics we were writing each other for our birthday this year should be to have them finished by our birthday next year. ;) Speaking of, when is your birthday again? I should try to get back to that Thing I was writing for you.
wolfrider89: Em befuddledwolfrider89 on June 28th, 2012 06:49 pm (UTC)
Posting as a WIP could totally help. If she isn't like me and gets totally blocked by the pressure. :p That's a good goal, I like it. Nice and realistic.
Oh, the Thing! My birthday is September 15, which I just realized is in less than three months. How the hell did that happen? Huh.

Me too. I couldn't put that much pressure on myself - it is why I don't do challenges either. But she thinks a WIP will inspire her, especially if the story gets a good response.

The Thing! It was coming along so nicely, one of those fics that was rolling out of me so easy. And then I had that seizure and I never could pick it back up and find that perfect tone I had. But I am determined to finish it because you need it in your life! How is it almost your birthday again - IDEK, woman. That doesn't seem right.

Dude, IDEK know! It feels like time has gone by super fast! And this birthday is gonna be spent alone, in a new country, just three days after I arrive at a new school. It feels weird.

I hope you are celebrating your birthday at least before you head off to school. Now I am even more determined to finish your fic for you, so you'll have something to 'open' on your birthday!

(I am so behind on my emails it's not even funny. Is it weird that I've missed "talking" to you? Because I have. :))

I'm planning on celebrating my birthday before I go, yeah. I'm gonna have a going away/birthday party where I'm gonna force people to dress up in costumes (well, that's the plan right now, anyway) and then I'm probably gonna have dinner with my dad. Hopefully I'll manage to squeeze in my mom somewhere too. :P

I would LOVE to have something to "open" on my birthday! But no pressure, because I know you don't like pressure. <3

No, dude, I totally missed talking to you too. I literally just thought yesterday, "Oh, it's Monday, that's the day Wolfie always responds to comments! Yay!" You need to catch up on my LJ at some point because I had another (more, lots more) dreams about Christian-Eliot. It won't stop! (it's like he's stalking my subconscious).

I'm gonna have a going away/birthday party where I'm gonna force people to dress up in costumes

Awesome! Will it be a themed costume party (like 'monsters' or 'favorite book character') or just 'all costumes welcome!' kind of thing?

I would LOVE to have something to "open" on my birthday!

It's on my list. I made a goal of 9,000 words by the end of September and that includes your fic, The BFF's fic, The Nephew's fic and that one Leverage fic I am working on. We'll see if I make it as that's a bigger goal than I am used to.

Oh, I'll have to do that! I'm so behind! I want to read all about your Christian-Eliot dreams.

Sine I managed to give them way too short a notice, I'm just glad if people show up. The costume party will have to wait. (although I would probably have dressed up as fem!Cas, and that would have been awesome. *sigh*)

Awesome! *crosses fingers* Hey, that reminds be that I haven't done a word count post in a while. Bad me. (I wrote more than 11k this month! *proud*)
