Of Days Gone By.
I was really sick to my stomach all day on Sunday. I had cramps so bad I was sweating from it. I figured it was Awesome Time of Month but 30-some hours later I still hadn't started. Then I was a little worried. Also, all the chocolate was gone, which was upsetting. I have finally started my Awesome Time now, which is good as in it means there isn't something terribly wrong with my stomach (it was much worse than usual this month) and I have made it through Day One (which is always the worst) and now I have to just convince myself to be productive and do some writing tomorrow, instead of trying to get that damn treasure chest on that damn cliffside. I swore to myself I would never play a video game that was so complicated that I had to look up a guide on the internet, and yet today, I found a guide to Go!Vacation. I don't have to get the treasure chests to enjoy the game but now it is a matter of pride, dammit!

Also, I took this quiz today about which Sherlock character I am (saw it on mandatorily's LJ and had to give it a try!). I usually don't post the results of these things but I am so amused by the fact that I am Lestrade that I had to share with ya'll.

You are Lestrade. You’re a hard worker who is seriously dedicated to your job, even when it might negatively impact other areas of your life. A bit jaded in your view of the world, you nevertheless value success and competence, and are willing to embrace unconventional methods if they will help you achieve your goals. Plus, you’re great at getting along with a wide variety of people — whether they get along with each other or not.

Pretty damn accurate. Take the quiz here.

In final and most important news - Here is a trailer for Les Mis the musical movie!!! I AM EXCITE, PEOPLES!! Called The Little Brother to tell him the trailer was out and the kid didn't even know they were making a movie. He is a huge Russell Crowe fan and Javert is his favorite character of all (very possibly mine too - he has such a great arc), so my brother was extra super psyched to hear about this.

This looks freaking awesome!

In Sum: I had a nightmare last night about having to ride on a camel with my mom. Idek.

Oh, honey! I hope that all that pain was just a freak occurrence, and never ever happens like that again. (But if it does, please get your lady parts checked out, as increased severe menstrual/pre-menstrual pain can lead to scary operations. I know; it's why I had to have my total hysterectomy.) So hopefully that is THAT for icky pain days.

The really important question regarding Les Mis is, "Can Russell Crowe sing well enough to be Javert," because if not, I will CRY RIVERS and turn off the sound somehow so that the musical duel between Jean Valjean and Javert doesn't make me curl into the fetal position from sheer sorrow and emotional betrayal. I already know that Anne Hathaway's voice should probably have been dubbed, and that Hugh Jackman will KICK MUCH ASS as Valjean.

My results from the quiz:
Sherlock Holmes. The smartest person in any room (unless your brother is there), you frequently drive people crazy with your rude tone, frighteningly meticulous eye for detail and rapid-fire conversation. Some find your brusque demeanor and total disregard for social norms off-putting and you might have a hard time making friends. But you’re shockingly loyal to the (very few) people you choose to associate with voluntarily and there’s definitely a heart buried somewhere under all that arrogance. Your friend is probably right about the solar system being important, though, so maybe you should look it up. (But I swear I would only save my computer first in a fire because I don't HAVE a pet right now. If I did the pet would be first.)

Camels are not as comfortable as they look. Yeah, think about that for a moment or three. And then be glad it was only a dream.

Thanks, babe. I usually only have
cramps on the day I start my period, but the day before I have er, um, other bathroom problems and that is what all the cramping and sweating was from - which is why when I didn't start my period right away, I got worried I had a virus or something.

as increased severe menstrual/pre-menstrual pain can lead to scary operaions. I know; it's why I had to have my total hysterectomy.

Ugh, babe, that sounds awful. /hugs/

"Can Russell Crowe sing well enough to be Javert,"

I think he can. I mean, we know he can sing really well and he has that deep booming voice already, so I have hope it translates into song well. Cuz oh yeah, the duel between him and Jean ValJean is one of the best musical parts. It needs the intensity of the song to get the intensity of the action.

I already know that Anne Hathaway's voice should probably have been dubbed,

I thought she sounded good in the trailer but I will concede they didn't use any of the lyrics where she has to hit those difficult notes. The BFF read an article that said that the director had them sing live while filming instead of over-dubbing in the studios - which may have been a bad idea with some of your lesser experienced singers like Hathaway.

Jackman is going to kill it! End Sentence.

iMy results from the quiz:
Sherlock Holmes

Really? You are Sherlock? But you are so well adjusted! lol Though it is right about you being loyal.

Your friend is probably right about the solar system being important, though, so maybe you should look it up

ahahahaha That cracked me up.

I had to say I would save my pets even though that is actually my sister's job. I can't actually physically pick up the cats so my plan for being home alone in a fire is just to leave the door open on my way out and frantically scream for them - which is a sucky plan.

Things I would save in this order:

My baby doll that I have had since the day my parents brought me home.

The CD-Rs I keep stacked next to my computer that are my most recently backed up documents and my family childhood photos that I scanned in.

My mini backpack/purse thingy.

Yes, I have thought about this A LOT.

Camels are not as comfortable as they look. Yeah, think about that for a moment or three. And then be glad it was only a dream.

Camels don't actually look comfortable at all. And I was riding it with my mother who was yelling at me the whole time that I wasn't doing it right and that I was going to fall off. So HELL YES, I am glad it was just a dream. Have you ridden a camel before?

edited because I suck at coding things

I'm really looking forward to seeing Les Miz and *hugs* pain isn't good. I hope it eases up and that rest will help.

I am so freaking excited about Les Mis! I can't wait! It has always been my favorite musical and to have them cast Jackman in it - just so excited!

The pain is all gone now, thanks. I am usually rather spoiled because I only get nasty cramps on the first day and then after that it is just a little lower back pain for a few days. I broke down and took Ibuprofen and that helped a ton.
ranuaranua on June 6th, 2012 11:28 am (UTC)
I second vikingprincess on the getting the parts checked, but also know that as you get older that awesome time of the month (tm) changes. For example, I never had abdominal cramps til I was over 35. Any way you slice it tho, it's a little piece of hell.

I too got Sherlock, which surprised me. It's such an awesome show. I can't wait to watch season 2. (I have it on dvd, it's waiting for that mythical 'free time' to happen)

Woo! Les Mis! I hope it gets wide release and not just to the art house type theaters on the coasts. The Boy and I are looking forward to it, that's for sure.

camels + mother = really strange dear, what did you eat before bed? lol
dodger_sister: musicalsdodger_sister on June 7th, 2012 08:32 pm (UTC)

Thanks, babe. I normally am pretty spoiled and only get womanly cramps bad on the first day. But the day before I get other bathroom problems which is why I was sweating and cramping so bad. I kept expecting my Awesome Time to start and when it didn't right away, I was worried I had some nasty stomach virus or something. Everything has settled down now and except for the fact that I started crying at my own writing last night - I think it is almost done for the month.

Sherlock! I find it so funny that anyone got Sherlock on that quiz because he is such a unique character. Just...no one is ever as extreme as Sherlock.

Oh babe, you need to watch series two like NOW. It is a million times better than series one and that was pretty damn awesome. The first episode into the season is my favorite of them all, I think. Sherlock is great in it - I won't say anything more. Just watch it!

Les Mis! I hope it gets wide release and not just to the art house type theaters

Naw, it will get wide release for sure. Look at the cast - they are pushing this thing for an Oscar win. I am surprised at how big musical movies have become but Les Mis is a step farther because it is almost all music and no talking.

camels + mother = really strange dear, what did you eat before bed? lol

Nothing! My diet was exactly the same as always. My mom was yelling at me in the dream that I was riding the camel wrong, which probably comes from my mother nagging me about everything lately - but idek where the camel came from!

edited for stupid typos

Hmm...may need to think about this a bit:
You are Mrs. Hudson. Warm and loving, you’re everyone’s surrogate mother. Always there to make some tea, listen to someone’s problems, or answer the door when the cops arrive, you can pretty much handle anything. Your past is a little bit mysterious — what exactly happened with your ex, anyway? — and you may have seen some wilder days in your youth, but you’ve (mostly) mellowed now. You might want to be careful of those “herbal soothers” though.

Wildly ironic since I was going to reiterate how happy I am that I'm menopausal and don't have to deal with Cramps from Hell anymore. I guess all that fits...

I am not even using my womanly parts - why does this keep happening every month?! It is not a fair trade for getting to have boobs.

I used to periodically (ha, pun) suffer from what I called my "hospitalization cramps," which pretty much had me doubled up and moaning and crying for a few hours at the start of certain cycles. I finally started paying attention to when my period was due and would take ibuprofen for a few days prior (always with food, though, cause that stuff messes with your stomach). It helped a LOT. Happily that isn't happening anymore. What I get now are infrequent bouts of heartburn that convince me that I am having a heart attack. Getting old: yay!

You are Mycroft Holmes. It’s possible you hold a minor position in the government. By which we mean, you probably run it. Organized, mysterious and well-connected, you’re a master of manipulation and surprisingly adept at kidnapping people. You’re actually the smartest person in your family, despite the fact that most people tend to pay more attention to your more dramatic sibling. You are the person in your social circle most likely to have a minion. (Or two.) And your diet is going just fine, thank you.

I know I am spoiled by pretty easy periods. For a day or two beforehand I have bathroom issues (which is usually how I can tell I am starting soon) and then I get nasty cramps on Day One and heavy flow. After that I just usually have some lower back pains. I last a week but the flow is next to nothing for most of that time - so pretty easy comparitively.

I try not to take Ibuprofen for my cramps if I don't have to. I try to save my Ibuprofen use for when my legs are bothering me. Lately it seems like I am taking it everyday, which is hard on my stomach and bad for my liver.

Ugh, heartburn. The men in my family have that bad but thankfully I don't yet. I also am not very adventurous with my food, so that probably helps. I hate 'heart attack pain' though. Ever since I had my seizure, when I slammed my side hard against the cupboard next to the toilet, my whole left side is all tight and messed up and I kept thinking I was having heart problems - so much so that they sent me to a heart doctor.

Omg - that is the funniest one I have read yet!! That was a great write-up! I would agree - you are Mycroft and that is totally a compliment!

Sucks about the cramps, bb. :( I once got all dizzy and nauseous, which is not the norm for me, so I thought I was sick or something, but it was just a really bad case of cramps. I wonder why that happens?

*flails around* Hugh Jackman! Weee! I remember you telling me I had to see this, and I honestly can't wait. It seems very, very awesome.

Also, I am apparently Molly Hooper:
You are Molly Hooper. Sweet, clever, and just the tiniest bit of a pushover, you’re always willing to give your all helping others, whether it’s with information, a tricky experiment or laboratory access they’re not supposed to have. Sometimes you can be a little too accommodating or slow to stand up for yourself in the face of more aggressive personalities, but, hey, you’re working on it. You’re an incurable romantic and you like to see the good in everyone, whether they deserve it or not.

It's scary how accurate this is. Except that I resent the pushover part. :p Molly is one of my faves, so I'm happy. (I have a LOT of faves, though, so as long as I'm not Donovan or Anderson, I'm OK. :P)

I bet when it comes down to the real serious stuff, Molly turns out not to be as big of a pushover as everyone thinks. She hides it under her sweet exterior but I bet there is a little bit of a devil in there. (would love a fic now where the boys discover Molly has some secret underground life!)

Your icon makes me so fucking happy.

I feel like I really am Lestrade. I am a little jaded, I embrace unconventional methods and I get along with a wide variety of people. The only one I was set to argue was my hard work at my job but then I realized that when I used to work, I was a very hardworker and I loved my job. I would like to say I still work hard at my job, but now my job is doing my exerices and answering the telephone and I try to avoid them whenever possible. If I am Lestrade, I hope that means I am also a sexy motherfucker because that man...unf.

Sucks about the cramps, bb.

I hope the cramps are not as bad this month (I just realized I will probably be all cramped up for the 4th of July bbq - boo).

I once got all dizzy and nauseous, which is not the norm for me, so I thought I was sick or something, but it was just a really bad case of cramps. I wonder why that happens

I don't know. The dizzy could be lack of iron (happens when we bleed too much) but I don't know why the nausea. My cramps were the level of like when I eat too much ice cream (dairy is bad for me) but I hadn't had any ice cream, so I was perplexed.

*flails around* Hugh Jackman! Weee! I remember you telling me I had to see this, and I honestly can't wait. It seems very, very awesome.

Oh God, yes. Lestrade is SO fuckin' hot. And I thought so even before I read the most awesome longfic where he was paired with Mycroft (I know, I thought it was weird too, until I read it) and he just AWESOME and hot and awesome. That fic is my headcanon for his backstory now.
