Professor, It's Time You Got Out Of There.
The new niece is still not here. I know a week over the due date - (what my sis-in-law is today) - is not that uncommon. Except that the baby dropped three weeks ago. And also like two weeks ago the doctor told her that she was 4 centimeters dilated and 30% effaced - (if you don't know what that means, be grateful that someone didn't explain it to you in graphic detail) - and that basically means that she is already 1/3 of the way ready to, uh, 'go'. She’s at 5 centimeters now and you have to be at 10 before they will let you start pushing, so she'll basically only have half the time that one normally would to get her ass to the hospital. And since they live over an hour out in the middle of nowhere-ville, they have been spending a lot of time here in town, to stay closer to the hospital. Which has been nice - we never see this much of them! Mostly I just feel bad for my s-i-l, because she is very, very uncomfortable right now - (the baby bump actually looks like it has dropped into her girly parts, like she is literally carrying the kid between her legs now and it looks very not good).

So they were in town all weekend and spent last night with friends and we got to keep The Nephew all for ourselves! We played some Wii and man, I need to get back on that because I could tell how much my shoulder has tightened up since I stopped playing. Also, I suck and need to practice because that was just a sad show. Then we played some X-Men UNO - (yes, they are UNO cards with X-Men on them!). At one point, The Nephew had to draw a bunch of cards and he goes, really quiet and conspiratorially, "I am such a hacker. You don't even know the cards I am getting right now. One of this and one of that. Man, I am just hacking it." I don't know what he thinks that word means! He continued to tell us throughout the game, "I'm a total hacker, you guys. You don't even know." He heard that word somewhere and thinks it applies to anytime he is being stealth, which I guess, in a way, it could work like that. Man, I love that kid.

In weather news, it is basically the apocalypse. Last Sunday it was 9 degrees outside - (which, in Fahrenheit, means more than 20 degrees below freezing). Then it started sleeting. Then snowing. And then in the early morning hours, sleeting again. Which, of course, left a layer of ice, covered by snow, covered by more ice. It went all the way up to 20 degrees on Monday, but the roads kept a lot of people home, including my sister. On Tuesday, I woke up to 57 degrees outside, an almost 40 degree bump up overnight, and thunderstorms all day long. The temps have been slowly going back down all week and are currently at about 20 degrees outside. Also, it has been basically snowing non-stop since Friday afternoon. It hasn't been crazy snow or anything, just a near-constant downward drift of white fluff that has resulted in about 4 inches of snow so far. Apparently it is going to continue doing this, 2 to 4 inches a day, every day, until Thursday. The end result of which will be over a foot of snow.

IDEK. But hey, I saw the sun for about ten minutes today and that is the first sighting of it in about ten days, so yay that!

I actually got a snow day Friday! It was such a pleasant surprise... even though I think they called it not because of the snow, which was minimal, but in order to give people a three-day weekend for the Super Bowl. Heh. Still, it was a great lazy day at home, so who can complain about that?

AWESOME! I didn't think you ever got snow days! I'm guessing you are probably right about the Super Bowl having more to do with it than anything. But still...good day for you!

It was AWESOME. Quiet morning, back to bad while TAHtm was still sleeping, snuggled up and slept in. BLISS.

Also, I didn't do anything school-related until Sunday afternoon, and then, only for a couple of hours. :D

That is totally crazy weather!

It's been completely insane! The snow has barely taken a breather all week too.

The weather has been nutty. I'm wondering if there might be another snow day this coming week as its been snowing constantly here. Though we haven't had sleet, thankfully and the snow has been pretty light stuff just a lot of it.

X-Men Uno sounds awesome, I want to play that and I'd love to try some Wii stuff when I come to visit as that also sounds fun. I love your nephew and hope your sister-in-law is okay. I think I was two weeks late when I born.

I wouldn't be surprised if school got called again maybe Thursday or Friday, but then again it may all wait to get really nasty until Saturday.

We just had that sleet on Sunday evening - (we were actually on our way out to Dad's for a visit and by the time we got there it was sleeting, so we just dropped off his groceries and turned around and left) - and then again on Monday morning. But the rest of the week, like you, it has been fluffy light snow, not in huge waves but still enough we have had to shovel every day.

I'd love to show you X-Men UNO! It's The Nephew's favorite. And we can totally break out the Wii too - we have a lot of games that are good for groups, like sports and that vacation game but if you also want to try some of the Legos stuff, J got the Lord of the Rings Lego Wii game for Christmas.

So far its all been fluffy here, cold and a little annoying but not dangerous. Though I did sleep in horribly late this morning because I stayed up reading the newest book in one of my favorite series.

Tomorrow is going to be busy as I'm doing research teaching partly in French and a meeting then next week is Spirit Week, which I think will be odd. My school is strange at about school spirit and it changes all of the schedules, so it will be an experience. I honestly wouldn't mind another snow day this week or next as while all the sleep I had this weekend helped, I wrecked it with two bad night's sleep. This winter just sucks.

This winter has kind of sucked, hasn't it? Just it feels very 'blah' and grumpy and man, do we need some sun or what? I actually spent all day on the couch with a stomach ache and just a general worn down feeling.

Spirit Week, huh? I'd be interested to hear how that goes at your school, what sort of things they do. My junior high school was really into it and I enjoyed it in fifth grade, did all the dressing up and stuff and then after fifth grade I turned into a grumpy teenager and wanted to punch anyone who exuded any sort of 'pep' at all. lol

From how the kids talk about it, I think some are really into it while others just aren't. Its all around classes and helps to raise money for their trips.

Most of the kids who spend a lot of time in the library are the ones a little more on the edges so not the kids who are really into it. I will be spending a lot of the week at assemblies trying to make sense of it all. My biggest contribution to school spirit was playing in the marching band, which I loved.

Yes, this fall and winter have had far too many grey days, its made it hard to feel happy and relaxed. Then I've been dealing with this awful transition with its various bumps. I will be so happy when its properly spring.
