You Know, It's Moments Like These When I Realize How Much Of A Superhero I Am.
I have finished The Nephew’s fic! It is at the beta! I have to do art tomorrow still though! So now let’s talk about Iron Man 3! Come join me!

* The Angst. I love it. I love the layers Rdjr brings to Tony. I love that he is all of Tony rolled so perfectly into one - that outer layer of snarky, douchey, womanizing, club boy that he shows the world and that broken boy underneath that never felt like he was good enough, or worthy enough, or doing enough with himself until it becomes this neurosis that consumes him. I love that they brought the events of NY so heavily into this, the idea that there are things out there that even Tony Stark and his brilliant mind aren’t necessarily capable of bringing down or protecting against. And that his over-the-line near-death experience really sunk into him hard. The ptsd, the anxiety attacks, the overwhelming feeling of not having control when Tony Stark is all about control.

* That moment when Pepper is kind of exasperated with him and he isn’t telling her what is really going on with him and then he just blurts it out. That moment more than anything shows so much about their relationship. The way they communicate, the way Tony wants so bad to hang onto her that he does the one thing Tony would never do with anyone else and just…lets it out. Admits his failings. Admits he doesn’t know what to do. It was a beautiful moment and despite all the other awesome moments in the movie, I think this was my favorite one of all.

* Everyone is badass! Pepper in the suit, saving Tony’s ass for a change, and then kicking ass at the end! (Fuck, but I thought she was really dead for a second). Rhodey, omg, Rhodey! You know what? Rhodey doesn’t even need a fucking suit cuz he is just serious hardcore badassery, like when he and Tony are suitless and for once Rhodey is leading the way. (actually, a bit of theme, other people stepping into save Tony because Tony doesn’t have to do it all himself). You guys, my love for Rhodey is limitless, okay. Happy, because he seriously saw that there was a problem and Tony wasn’t really in a place to hear what Happy was saying but Happy just had this gut instinct and he followed it and yeah, he got blown up but come on, how could he have seen the human-bomb coming? Happy is awesome.

* The kid. When the kid came on screen I was like, ‘Huh, a little tropey,’ but you know what? It worked. It wasn’t clichéd or badly done and that kid was amazing and I mean, if you think about it, Tony has always kind of been emotionally stunted at the level of a ten year old, so having one lead him through it really worked for me. In fact, some of my favorite exchanges were between Tony and Harley and I kind of want to write some future-fic for Harley about what he does when he grows up.

* The ending. I mean, yes, I want Tony in The Avengers 2 and of course, I would like more Iron Man movies, but really? Really I just felt like that was the end of Tony’s story. It was a good end. It was a place Tony should be now. I was happy for him at the end. I was so glad to see him pull Dum-E out of the wreckage too! Their bro-ship is awesome, despite one being a robot arm.

* The tag ending! Science!bros 4evah! Look, yes, I had started my Awesome Time of Month that day, so I was having some hot flash issues, I’ll admit that. But that does not account for the actual spike in my body temperature that occurred when the camera showed that it was Bruce he had been taking to all along! Just the two of them on the screen together had me flipping out. I wish there had been a scientific study of fangirls body temperatures before/during/after the tag scene. I had been having a conversation with one of the aides at therapy the day before about The Avengers and she said her favorite thing was Tony and Bruce together and how much she loved Ruffalo’s Bruce. I made sure to let her know to stay until the mother-fucking end, because for serious…SCIENCE!BROS.

In short, I was contemplating how I liked Iron Man 2 better than 1, and wondering if 3 would be better than 2, and you know what? IT WAS.

I loved it and you hit all the parts that I adored too. Oh and I finished a draft of my Charles' fic. Would you be up for betaing it or at least giving it a read through depending on your energy? I'm at the antsy stage where I know it needs work but also just want someone else to read it. Its not due until May 26th.

Work is being odd, I passed the head in the kitchen this morning and had to tamp down by anger but then kids were taking out books and listening to me about not being stupid online. It was one of those afternoons of hey, they actually trust me. It took a while but with kids it always does. Job searching is going slowly because I love being in the moment at work at points but also not, life is weird.

Crap, I meant to reply to your other comment yesterday. Yes, send me your fic! I had intended on offering when I saw you put up that post anyways, since you said it didn't need to be in a hurry. And now I have finished The Nephew's birthday fic, so I think I can probably look at yours on Thursday, but if not then, then def on Sunday.

Wasn't Iron Man 3 just so good? I couldn't even believe how much the emotional side of it impacted me. How does RDjr do that in the middle of the badass awesome stunts superhero movie?

No worries, this month started off weirdly.

What format is best for you? Its about 3000 words. Its currently a google doc. So I could make it into a word doc, copy and paste it into the email or make it a pdf or another form of document.

I loved it and that's why I love these movies, Marvel knows how to do emotional buttons in all of their franchises.

Uh, I actually use a word processor program, Works maybe, but if you do it in word doc my computer should convert it okay. Anything in particular you need from it? Typos or just content editing? Both? Let me know. I do love being the first to get to look at a new fic!.

Ugh autocorrect on my IPad.

I'd love any and all thoughts you have on it.

There's a part at the beginning that I don't know if it will fit or not.

In terms of typos, grammar, I have problems with run on sentences and sentences that only make sense to me. Note whatever catches your eye and that will be a great help. Thank you. And emailed to you.

Since I don't let spoilers bother me, and I don't know when I'll get around to seeing IM3, I read beneath the cut. It sounds like I have some excellent things to look forward to, too!

On a side note, I don't understand the movie fan hate for Pepper in a suit. It's totally comics canon! Get over it! :)

OMG, so good, bb! RDjr brings it in all the best marvelous ways and the bgreat thing about the Iron Man movies is how all of the side characters are just as awesome and interesting as Tony is!

I didn't know there was any fan-hate about that! It is totally canon and it is also a really awesome moment. I mean, like I said, watch for the theme of Tony feeling like he can't save everyone he loves and then those people turning around saving him instead. It's an intersting insight when you think about where Tony's headspace is during this movie.

Yes! If my rambling has done nothing but make sure you keep watching the rest of the Iron Man series, then my work here is done. Two is even better than one, imo. You have so much good stuff in Two that is so exciting. And then you need to watch the Avengers movie before you see Iron Man 3. I demand it! Really, Tony's emotional headspace won't make much sense if you don't see The Avengers first but The Avengers is also awesome and Tony is so fucking good in that as well. I was never really into the Iron Man comics as a kid so it surprises even me sometimes how much I have fallen for the Iron Man series.

And yay for you finishing The Nephew's fic!

Thank you! It's 6,000 words of kid-fic that was actually really the most fun to write of any of the fics I have written for him yet.

Write that Harley future-fic! I want to read it.

Why do you encourage my madness?! lol It's on The List but holy shit, The List in comparison to the amount of time I have to actually write is a ridiculously unbalanced set.

I really want to write this one though! eep.
