My Tivo Is About To Go Back To Full-Time Hours.
This post is more a place-holder for me than anything else. Because the new TV season is upon us! And I want to try out some new shows, but I have to wait until they are closer to their premiere dates before the Tivo will recognize new shows - (my regular shows are already programmed in, but I put them on the list anyways, so I have an idea of what is coming when, even though Tivo will grab them for me without me even having to lift a finger!) But I did find trailers for all the new shows I am trying out and put the links in here as well, so if you want to see what looks good coming up this fall, check out the links!

September
16, Monday:
Sleepy Hollow - Fox - 9pm (I wasn’t going to watch this but it is Orci and Kurtzman with John Cho & Orlando Jones, and C really wants us to try it out together, so even though The Headless Horseman scared the shit out of me as a kid, I am giving it a go).

17, Tuesday:
The Mindy Project - Fox - 9:30pm

24, Tuesday:
Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D - ABC - 8pm (Coulson is a badass motherfucker and I want to lay in bed all day naked with him and watch a Dark Angel marathon…plus, Ming-Na and J. August!)
NCIS: LA - CBS - 9pm
Lucky 7 - ABC - 10pm (I’m still iffy on even trying this, anybody else giving it a go?)
Chicago Fire - NBC - 10pm

25, Wednesday:
Revolution - NBC - 8pm
Back In The Game - ABC - 8:30pm (It’s Maggie Lawson, James Caan and Little League…if it doesn’t suck, I’m gonna love it!)
Law & Order: SVU - NBC - 9pm
South Park - Comedy Central - 10pm

27, Friday:
Hawaii Five-O - CBS - 9pm (Friday night time slot, the kiss of death is upon us.)

29, Sunday:
Once Upon A Time - ABC - 8pm

October
08, Tuesday:
Supernatural - CW - 9pm

09, Wednesday:
Arrow - CW - 8pm
American Horror Story: Coven - FX - 10pm (Witches! I can totally watch this season, no more crazy doctor characters!)

10, Thursday:
Once Upon A Time In Wonderland - ABC - 8pm (okay, I wasn’t that excited about this when I first heard about it but the trailer looks AWESOME!)

13, Sunday:
The Walking Dead - AMC - 9pm

17, Thursday:
Reign - CW - 9pm (This is being pegged as Game Of Thrones meets Pretty Little Liars, so it has the potential to be awe-some or utterly terrible.)

25, Friday:
Dracula - NBC - 10pm (The description of this sounded better than the trailer looks and if too many of my other new shows are any good, I may not even try it.)

November
04, Monday:
Almost Human - Fox - 8pm (Karl Urban, I want to lick every piece of your body. Also, this looks really fucking awesome!)

Mid-Season
Resurrection - I am unsure when this premieres, but it seems to be a mid-season show. It looks pretty good, plus Omar Epps and Kurtwood Smith!
The 100 - A mid-season show that I am so, so, SO excited for! It looks like it’ll hit ALL my buttons!

And my weekly schedule list, which gave me an idea of which shows will have conflicts. The Tivo can record two shows at once, but it looks like The Mindy Project and the new sitcom I wanted to try out will have issues with other shows. I could say, "I'll just remember to watch them in my room," but I tried that with Subugatory and I never remembered and it completely fell off my radar.

The regular font are the shows I watch myself, while I eat breakfast, and the shows in italics are the ones I watch with my sister in the evening, over dinner.

What about you guys - what new shows are you excited about?

TWD, SHIELD, and SpN were already on my radar.

BUT I MUST WATCH ALMOST HUMAN! (Too bad it's on Fox; they'll probably cancel it, since it looks made of pure win....)

It looks so good right? The BFF was all over that a few months ago, tumblr-ing (is that the verb?) a bunch of stuff for it and it had me so excited and I can't stand that we have to wait until November! (I know, it's the World Series on Fox that is the problem here). And I know Fox is a bitch and a half to count on, but goddamit, they got KARL FUCKING URBAN AND IF THAT DOESN'T EARN THEM AT LEAST ONE FULL SEASON THEN FOX CAN SUCK DONKEY BALLS BECAUSE SERIOUSLY! Erm, yeah.

I'll never forgive Fox for their Firefly abuse....

CHICAGO FIRE IS COMING BACK!! I am the most excited about this and Agents of Shield. I have the feeling that this will be H5O's last season so I hope they make it a good one. Which NCIS do you watch? I feel like you said you watch both but prefer the original... is that right?

I def think Sleepy Hollow would be right up your alley - it almost looks like it has a crime serial drama feel to it with a supernatural twist, you know. Maybe Reign, you might like that, but it depends on if it doesn't suck (that show is either going to be gold or crap). Maybe Resurrection, for you, whenever it airs.

Mostly, I just need Severide and Casey and Shay and Hermann back on my TV! (I heard that the chick who plays Renee got a regular gig on some other show, so I wonder how that will affect the 'baby daddy' storyline with Severide).

I await my TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly fall preview issues, and then I'll know more. I love that they even have pull-out calendars so I can keep track of what's premiering when. I have no idea what I'm going to watch yet. Agents of SHIELD definitely, that Karl Urban thing, I'll give Sleepy Hollow a try, ooh, the CW show with Mark Pellegrino, um, Tomorrow People...I'll make my own TV post when I know what I'm going to watch.

Ooooh, a pull-out calendar would have been cool to have! I had to make my own OCD list of things to help keep track. lol The TVGuide app was at least helpful though.

I am so excited about Agents of SHIELD! And that Karl Urban show looks fantastic! Sleepy Hollow is an iffy thing for me, it make suck or it may hit my niche perfectly, but I am withholding judgement. I like that Sleepy Hollow premieres before anything else so I can really give it a good try before I get bombed by other news shows. Tomorrow People...Idk, I went back and forth on trying it but I have so many genre/conspiracy shows already. Let me know how the pilot goes and if you liked it? :)

looking at your list makes me realize how many tv shows I'm planning on watching! We share Sleepy Hollow, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., N.C.I.S. LA, H5O, Supernatural, American Horror Story, and Arrow. Then I've got Grimm, Hannibal, Crossing Lines, Suits and Teen Wolf. For new shows I'm trying out The Blacklist (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2741602/) and Ironside (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2787278/?ref_=sr_2) like I really need more cop shows in my life :)

looking at your list makes me realize how many tv shows I'm planning on watching!

I was kind of astounded at my own list and kept thinking how I needed to cut down a few things but there isn't anything I want to get rid of!

We share Sleepy Hollow, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., N.C.I.S. LA, H5O, Supernatural, American Horror Story, and Arrow. Then I've got Grimm, Hannibal, Crossing Lines, Suits and Teen Wolf.

I watched Grimm for the first season and I enjoyed it as a crime serial with supermtaural elements to it, but I it got cut because my TV list was too big at that point. I could see someday streaming it all on Netflix though. I can never watch Hannibal! People keep trying to get me to watch it but no way! What is Crossing Lines? YOU ARE WATCHING TEEN WOLF!!! AWESOME. I have a post of yours tagged to comment about this on, but let me just say, I am now writing Teen Wolf fic. You can find it on my journal. It's a fandom I am in now.

For new shows I'm trying out The Blacklist (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2741602/) and Ironside (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2787278/?ref_=sr_2) like I really need more cop shows in my life :)

I thought about Blacklist but I'm not a huge James Spader fan so I decide to forgo it. I had issues with Ironside casting a non-disabled person in the role but I have now learned that they are going to do flashbacks to before his accident, so that makes sense. Still can't watch it though. For the same reason I can't read fanfic about disabilities - either they Get It Wrong or they get it right but the person's life is just so much better than mine that it depresses me. (with fanfics I either quit early on because they clearly didn't do their research, or I read the whole thing and then cry because I never end up with Jensen Ackles at the end of my story - I'm still stuck here with my sister!) Uh, sorry that was a rant, but I've been thinking those things every time I see an ad for that show and its been bothering me. If it were just a serial crime show starring Blair Underwood, I'd be all over that!

waves a little small and guilty, hey bb, I missed you too

Never be guilty about it! I disappeared for like five years from the internet and my fandom friends still welcomed me home - (though don't disappear for five years, okay!!)

I love Grimm, it's like they took the 'demons/monsters have lives just like ours' outta Buffy and the 'monsters are the bad guys' outta Supernatural and made a cop show. I even read the comic :) (I have an addiction, I know, lol)

I can totally understand not being able to watch Hannibal. It's very . . . unsettling. They do it so well though, you start to empathize with Hannibal and then wham! he does something that reminds you how evil and amoral he is. I love it :D

Crossing Lines is an international cop show. So you know, accents. And the angst! Oh gods, the angst. I have all the feels over this show.

I will look for your Teen Wolf fanfic. It's the show that is giving me all the other feels right now. I am so in love with Stiles. *no shame*

You've got a point about Ironsides, and I agree with you 100%. I'm on the fence about it, honestly. I want it to be realistic, but I'm afraid it won't be, that they'll give it that Hollywood gloss. I'll give the first couple eps a chance tho.

I can totally understand not being able to watch Hannibal. It's very . . . unsettling.

I was talking about it with The BFF and saying how it isn't the cannibalism that is driving me away and how I couldn't put my finger on what it was about it that was making me wholly uncomfortable with everything I'd seen online about it. And she made a very good observation about how Hannibal is Will's doctor, a person with major influence and power over Will, and he uses that to manipulate and control him. Which would both spark my issues with doctors and my issues with my mother. As sson as she said it, I was like, "Yes! That. That's why I can't watch this show." Eating people, I'm fine with that though! lol

Crossing Lines is an international cop show. So you know, accents. And the angst! Oh gods, the angst. I have all the feels over this show.

How have I never heard of this? What channel is it on? My sis and I just started watching Orphan Black - have you seen this? We just watched the first episode of S1 and I REALLY like it. The lead is very compelling and her bff is awesome and the conspiracy has already taken off big time in one ep!

I will look for your Teen Wolf fanfic. It's the show that is giving me all the other feels right now. I am so in love with Stiles. *no shame*

No one should have any shame ever over loving Stiles!! The two Teen Wolf fics I have up now are Danny/Stiles (my Teen Wolf OTP) but later today I hope to get my Teen Wolf crossover fic up as well. It's relevant to your interests, I promise!

You've got a point about Ironsides, and I agree with you 100%. I'm on the fence about it, honestly. I want it to be realistic, but I'm afraid it won't be, that they'll give it that Hollywood gloss.

I see all these people complaining that they want representation of 'their kind' on TV and while I do, while I wish disabilites had more spotlights on them, I can't watch those shows! I wonder if I'm the only disabled person who gets triggered every time the Ironsides commercial comes on. TV is my escape from my shit body, for one and for two, it's the same way The BFF can't watch any shows about lawyers without getting rage-face. However, I love lawyers/cop shows, even when I know they aren't getting it right at all and if shit-legs weren't my disability, I'd probably be all over Ironsides and just completely handwave all the things they get wrong. It's Blair Underwood as a cop, what's not to love?
ranuaranua on September 24th, 2013 09:51 pm (UTC)
Crossing Lines is on NBC, it just had a handful of eps over the summer and I don't know when it's coming back, but I've got my fingers crossed.

I thought about watching Orphan Black, but I never got around to it. I've got way too much on my tv schedule right now, but maybe during Christmas hiatus I'll remember to catch it on Netflix or something.
