The Prettiest.
I mentioned last week that I celebrated my Medicaid hearing outcome by going shopping. I bought this adorable little makeup case, some new makeup, and streamlined my makeup collection from an entire lunchbox down to this cute little thing.

Also, when The Canadians all went to the Detroit Zoo with my sister, TCNiece wanted to buy me a present because I couldn't go with them. So she picked out some stones for me - (yes, she bought me a bag of rocks). But they are beautiful and my sister said that TCNiece picked each one out very carefully, trying to find the prettiest ones for me. I can just see her picking through them and discarding the ones she didn't think passed muster.

Bought it at Target! My favorite store!

Gift from The Canadian Niece! Look how pretty!

My makeup consists of about four different little eyeshadow sets, powder foundation, blush, coverup, highlighter, mascara, eyeliner pen and about a dozen different lipsticks, mostly in various shades of pink. What about you guys - how much makeup do you have?

I have a stupid-huge amount of makeup, but you could fit my day to day makeup stuff into a box about half of the size of your cute little kit (rainbow peace signs!). Since one of my majors was drama, and I specialized a little in costuming and makeup for my technical classes (set building too; I avoided lights and sound), I love to try new things. I have a couple of sets like this in blue, green, and purple that I plan to play with once Halloween parties and holidays roll around. How fun does that look?!

Ooh, I see amethyst and lapis, rose quartz, and what looks like it might be some dyed agate! (If the light were different I could tell you more - the orange tone makes it a little tougher). VERY pretty. I love tumbled semi-previous stones for worry and/or thinking/meditation pieces - they just feel so nice in the hands.

That's how I felt about my stuff - like I used the same tings 80% of the time, day to day, so I decided to whittle out the rest. I would suspect, with your hobbies like Ren Fair and stuff, that you would have a lot of theater makeup, yeah.

Ooooh, you know the names of them! I couldn't pick out any but the quartz, but I loved all the colors. I love the feel of these stones, they are so smooth and cold feeling - it's very relaxing.

Well, for Ren Faire, the most important component of makeup is SUNSCREEN! I still have tan lines from corsetry that show JUST how high my boobs were trussed....

If you ever take a photo that's got more natural (white) lighting, I can identify ALL TEH PRETTEHS. :) You can probably find some online stuff about gemstone beliefs/properties/uses too. I love that just handling them relaxes you!

I love those stones, and the image of your niece picking out each one for you.

My skin is so prone to breakouts and clogged pores that I can hardly wear any makeup. My usual routine is undereye concealer, a bit of concealer dotted here and there where needed, blush, lipstick, and (for special occasions) curled lashes and light mascara.

She can be so serious when she has a task at hand, my niece. Plus, she loves stones and leafs and pinecones - anything nature has to offer. You have to pick through her pockets before washing them because she collects whatever the outdoors has to offer!

My sister has that issue too. I've been lucky - even if I forget to wash it off before bed, I don't break out.

My usual routine is undereye concealer

That's one of the things I've been needing to get so now the bags under my eyes are far less noticeable! ;)

The stones are lovely and I don't have much makeup. I've got two sets of eye shadow, some lip gloss and some lipstick. I like make up but don't wear it much.

The stones are so smooth and cool feeling in my hand! She was so proud to show each one to me!

I don't think I could live with only two sets of eyeshadow! lol Idk if you remember that pink ballet lunchbox that used to be in my bathroom - that thing was full up of makeup. So I am more streamlined now. (besides that lunchbox was getting gross, it had to go!)

Good for you!

I used to have some eyeshadow in my youth but no make up at all now.

Wow! But I've seen pictures of you and your skin-tone looks flawless!

I often don't wear makeup if I am not leaving the house for the day, but I think it's the artist in me that likes to play around with makeup, especially eyeshadow.

Thank you. Maybe it helps that I stay out of the sun?

A few years ago I met someone at the Dallas Con who has since become a very good friend. She introduced me to the wonder that is good eye shadow application. Since meeting her I have purchased a lot more cosmetics (and more expensive ones). My last Sephora visit resulted in 2 lipsticks that actually look good on me, a new brush, and this: http://www.sephora.com/master-class-palette-iii-color-contour-P387424?icid2=Smashbox_WhatsNew_Carousel_P387424_image. I think I have all I need now! :D

AND I learned how to use the contouring powder. I can't believe it has taken me this long to learn how to really wear makeup.

I think everything I have would fit into your (lovely) new case, though I have had to move mine from a small basket to one twice its size.

I'd be interested in learning that - the application is so hard! I've recently been doing a rewatch of What Not To Wear and paying extra close attention to the makeup section, taking tips from the master, Carmindy.

Oh man, that Sephora kit - I am resisting the urge so hard to click 'buy' on that shit. It looks perfect and all the exact colors I want!

Wait...what does contouring powder do?

Thanks! That was actually really helpful. I am going to try it - I think it will make my face look thinner!

Cute case! and I like the stones. They're really pretty, she picked good ones.

I need to streamline my makeup too, I have way too much considering I hardly ever wear it. I attempted to go out the other night and didn't even bother with it (I got to the bar, was very ill in the bathroom and came home to be sick all night)

Thanks for recing I check out your tumblr the other day, you posted some awesome stuff!!

I will send you a pic of that necklace, but as you may of guessed I've been ill, again.

Thanks! Oh, the stones, she was so serious about each one! TCNiece takes her stones very seriously. lol

I need to streamline my makeup too, I have way too much considering I hardly ever wear it.

I had tons of eyeshadow and I realized I only wore like the same 8 colors, so I threw most of it out and just got ones in those colors.

I attempted to go out the other night and didn't even bother with it (I got to the bar, was very ill in the bathroom and came home to be sick all night)

Oh no. Bad enough to be sick but when you are trying to be social too. Ugh.

Thanks for recing I check out your tumblr the other day, you posted some awesome stuff!!

All for you, bb!

I will send you a pic of that necklace, but as you may of guessed I've been ill, again.

I'm so sorry you've been sick again. /hugs/ I have been trying to kickstart my girls into getting at least some ideas for their costumes, but I think I am more excited by this year's Halloween theme than anyone - even though it was The BFF's idea originally. I haven't been sick, just busy with doctors and cookouts. (and apparently my liver levels are up but I see that doctor this week). But I swear, swear, swear I will get what I have of my costume so far photo-ed and sent off to you this week!! Swear.

Feel better soon! <3

Stones are serious business. I love stuff like that.

I feel like eye shadow is one of those things you can never have enough of. I got this one set that has all the colors I could really need, but I still have others.

It was not a great run, two lots of being social canceled and two hospital apps, too sick for all of it (including getting a tattoo)

Thank you <3 I need to do some tumblr posts. I've only done a few recently.

I think I'm excited for your costumes too! I want to see and plan. I wish I could draw so I could sketch out some ideas to show you, but I design everything mentally and then make it. Yay for cook outs, boo for doctors. I hope the liver results turn out to be okay and not give you too much trouble.

I'll look forward to your email. We can swap pics, coustumes for necklaces lol

Thank you babe <3

Hey, just wanted to give you a heads up on the liver tests results. They were up and also my ultrasound showed some fatty liver going on. But they redid the lab results the day of my appt and my levels were back to normal! I conclude it is because the week I had my last labs drawn was also like two days after The Canadians were here visiting. I was exhausted, stressed, and taking extra Ibuprofen and Xanax to help me get through the week and all of those can cause elevated levels. Especially all of those at once. As for the fatty liver, they want me to exercise more - which I already am because it is part of my new regiment at therapy. I am sure it got like that because of me being laid up all winter with the bronchitis. Anyways, just wanted to let you know.

I swear I am getting an email sent out to you this weekend on the costume stuff, but FYI, I like ankhs! Like in my tattoo. And gothic looking things. i\If that helps.

Are you feeling better? I saw your post about your terrible sick week and it sounded awful. Thinking of you, babe!
lizibabes: Franklizibabes on August 30th, 2014 09:57 pm (UTC)
I'm glad when they tested again they were back to normal. Is there anything they can do to help with the fattyness other than exercise? I really hope it settles now that your 'better' and not laid up.

Will look into ankh's (I have a lovely ankle necklace with a skull of my own, I love it) and goth I can very much do. But yep that helps. Don't stress about the email, send it when you can.

I'm feeling way better than I did, I was so ill I had to miss getting my kidney test results and put that off, and I had to put off getting my new tattoo (You know I was sick if I missed that)

I'm posting links to some self published stuff in a sec, more tomorrow. I'll be posting everywhere if you could possibly shear the links for me too? Pretty please?

Thanks for thinking of me babe, I could be worse.

One complaint, when you have a knee that's never healed right, and knee's that dislocate by themselves, falling on them both sucks, the bruising's pretty epic, and also looks like I've been having rough sex, so there's that.
