Friends Laugh Together, HaHaHaHa, Friends Make Graphs Together, LaLaLaLa
So this weekend my sister, The BFF and myself all headed to our friend, hiyacynth's, baby shower. We thought the weather might stop us, but thankfully, it did not. Though I did have to get up at the asscrack of dawn.

The baby shower was at this fancy place that had this amazing - (that is not an adequate word) - view of the lake with like a wall of windows overlooking it. Breath-taking.

They served us lunch. I had the salmon. Salmon is one of those dishes that has to be prepared just perfectly or it is too dry. This salmon was unbelievably exquisite. And the sauce they had on it was unreal. I maybe rubbed my veggies and potatoes through the sauce as well. It was worth the trip just for the food. Yummy.

We got to see hiyacynth, who looks great. For those of you wondering - it is her first child, a boy, and they have named him Munchy P. I am sure they will come up with something more society-approved for the birth certificate. ;)

We sat at lunch with a very nice and entertaining girl that we had also sat with at hiyacynth's wedding, which was lovely. I am usually so awkward at social events, so it was nice to have someone to talk with that felt so very comfortable. Also, we overheard this one girl talking about how she was headed out the next day to Harry Potter Land, so we geeked out with her about that.

Then hiyacynth opened all her gifts. Munchy P made out like a bandit - it was a shitton. A shitton, for those of you that don't know, is the Canadian equivalent of a fuckload.

After that, we went to the hotel, because driving back the four-plus hours on the same day seemed liked overkill. (Though my sister did once drive sixteen hours straight on our way back from vacation in Minnesota.) Then I had a nappie. The BFF studied for the Bar Exam. My sister went to have dinner with her college roommate (and proceeded to drunken text message us about the copious amounts of alcohol she was consuming).

Then The BFF and I turned on The Dark Knight, ordered greasy food from the pizzeria down the street and had these Very Important Conversations:

1) CW Actors as The Justice League and CO. Well, she kept doing "The Justice League", but being the dork that I am, I kept going back to my childhood favorite of "Super Friends".

2) Which Batman villain us and our friends would be. The BFF says I would be Harley Quinn and she is so right. (Did you know Harley was voiced by "Calliope" from Days of Our Lives? This makes me squee. I loved Calliope.)

3) And a conversation I blame totally on queenklu, who are the most slashable animated characters. Including the debate over whether the dwarfs were actually in love with Snow White or if it is more a codependent relationship hero-worship thing. I did make a case for Doc/Happy.

4) I am sure there was more, it went on for three hours and lots of insanity and laughing because we were sleep-deprived and ridiculous and it was awesome. I just remember the night ending with me making filthy comments about Jim Gordon ordering people around. Come on, you know it is hot when Jim Gordon orders people around! Also, who is Batman's best boyfriend - Harvey Dent or Jim Gordon?

Honestly, the best Saturday I have had in a long time and I had the most fun hanging out with The BFF.

So, how was your weekend?

On a final note - Hey, Self: when your sister podfics your favorite Dean/Cas AU ever and you fall asleep listening to it - try not to wake up into a hazy consciousness right as your sister's voice is narrating the frottage scene and repeatedly saying the word "cock". It will quite possibly ruin your favorite Dean/Cas love-making scene and also, you know, scar you for life. The End.

Sounds like you had an excellent weekend. I'm glad the weather co-operated with the drive. Did you find any coconut m&ms for the trip?

These are very important conversations you had. *nods head* These are the things we need to talk about in order to keep the world in working order.

try not to wake up into a hazy consciousness right as your sister's voice is narrating the frottage scene and repeatedly saying the word "cock" this is possibly the kind of trauma one doesn't recover from. I wish you luck.

I did NOT find Coconut M&Ms - I got really excited when I saw special M&Ms in the vending machine at the reststop, but they were just pretzels M&Ms. Boo that.

These are the things we need to talk about in order to keep the world in working order.

I know, right?! I still can't decide if Harvey Dent or Jim Gordon is Batman's best boyfriend. I mean, Jim treats him better. but Harvey and Bruce have such an intense relationship. :)

this is possibly the kind of trauma one doesn't recover from. I wish you luck.

Ha - yeah, it really is my fav Dean/Cas fic - I reread that section a lot, so I just tried again after I had heard my sister's podfic. I did fine with all the cocks and stuff, but when I got to reading the part where Dean says - "Yeah, yeah, give it up, sweetheart, lemme feel you" - I could only laugh with some hysteria at the memory of my sister's voice saying those words. Weirded out, not going to try to read that one again for awhile. lol

For a value of healthy relationship (yep, I know we're talking about Batman here, but he deserves a healthy relationship too) I'd have to go with Jim Gordon. Harvey and Bruce would have an exciting relationship, but I think Bruce needs the stability that Jim would give him.

Batman already has an unhealthy relationship with himself - he doesn't need another one. And let's even go into the codependency of his relationship with his Robins. (I just typo-ed the word 'codependency' so it read 'codpeepndency' - lol)

But yes, Harvey is that boyfriend that you keep going back too no matter how messed up you know the relationship is. Jim Gordon is the good guy boyfriend that treats you like the princess you deserve to be treated like. And yes, it is Bruce, so he will always go back to Harvey - poor Jim. Omg, did I just plot outline a Batman slash fic?
ranuaranua on February 16th, 2011 01:21 am (UTC)
um, actually, I think you plot outlined an actual Batman comic. I believe it was something like two years ago, Harvey was in a good phase and Bruce let him help protect the city while Bruce was gone (I believe it was during the One Year Later stuff DC did) and Jim was kinda against it, but you just don't say no to Batman. Harvey barely held it together long enough that Bruce/Batman got back to the city and Jim was all 'I told you so.'

So, you see, this stuff isn't anything that the actual paid writers haven't already covered. lol

Haha - okay then, on that note - something you need to see.

The 8 Most Awkward Sexual Moments in Comic Book History

Batman and Superman and tentacle porn - seriously. Iron Man's abusive relationship with his suit (Oh yeah I already knew that was canon before this article proved it to me!) and many more...Enjoy that!

oh yeah, that's priceless, the stuff they've gotten away with in comics over the years is astounding

damn it! I've spent the morning thinking about Snow White, thank you very much. I've decided that the dwarfs didn't know what to make of Snow. She was a novelty and was so obviously naive to their way of life she was essentially a child. So of course a child is cossetted and played with and danced for. The kiss on the checks thing is explained by if someone new and different kissed you you'd be all flustered too.

*headdesk* I am so sorry, I just couldn't hold it in. *shame*

I highly agree with your theory on Snow White and the dwarfs. I am so glad I made you spend countless sleeping hours thinking aout this! ;) They keep advertising for the new Snow White dvd on TV and every time I think of you!

Your icon is made of win!! I watched Punky Brewster religiously
dodger_sister: childhooddodger_sister on February 15th, 2011 08:43 pm (UTC)
Haha - Thanks! Someone recced this Punky vid on my Flist - Father and Daughter and it made me so nostalgic, I had to go get some icons over at icons_of_random.

I thought I was Punky as a kid. I had the denim vest with all the buttons and the stupid hat. I've been seriously thinking about Netflixing it and having the Little Girl Cousin over for a sleepover. She's almost seven, it's the perfect age.
