Vacation Post - Part Deux: The Battle At Hogwarts.
Ya'll are lucky I am even here right now - my Plants VS Zombies game came in the mail yesterday. I played for at least three hours. I have at last come up for air. So, since I am back in the world of the living momentarily, I thought I should continue on with the story of my Awesome Vacation.

Firstly, The BFF would like me to tell you all her favorite story from our Roadtrip - (yep, I say Roadtrip with a capital letter) - in which we went through Quebec and no one spoke English. We were walking into a Harvey's - (basically their version of Burger King only better) - and this man runs up to open the door for us - (because Canadians are nice, even the French ones). Then, because it is polite to thank people, and because Merci is one word we do know in French, The BFF responded with a "Merci." The man then proceeds to try to have a full-on conversation with her in French. She just smiled and nodded. Also, ordering from the 16yr old behind the counter, who didn't speak English, was an experience. It involved hand gestures.

And now the rest of my story...

So, after buying presents for all of the world, we went back and put on our dresses - (may I say The BFF looked stunning) - and went to the wedding. It was not easy to get me inside, so kudos to liptonrm for getting me across the ankle-deep gravel in those high heels of hers. The wedding was lovely. The grooms walked down the aisle hand-in-hand and they both cried when they said their vows. They had a beautiful harpist who played during the ceremony and then again during our dinner.

There were so few of us, we had our own little banquet room and we got to order direct off the Inn's menu and the grooms paid for our meal. I had a delicious salmon - (apparently I quite like salmon) - and we had some good conversations. We got a few compliments; The Bff on her shoes and me on my tattoo and my boobs - sadly, all the boob-compliments were from gay men, but I'll take it! I drank two - (no, that's a lot for me, I am not a drinker) - strawberry cream martinis - (delicious). I was incredibly flushed and the everything was a little sway-ey. We walked back to the room, and the gravel was all gravely and The BFF was all, "If you go down, I'm not gonna catch you in these heels," but I stayed upright. Go me! Then I felt the urge to take off my dress and sit around in my underwear - (I'm still not sure why). Thankfully, The BFF didn't mind, as she was in the awesome hottub bath.

After she went to sleep, my friend and his husband came up to the room, since they figured they wouldn't see me in the morning and we had another excellent long visit. I saw more of them than I had anticipated I would. Of course, this sadly means that after ten years together, they have forgotten what they were suppose to do on their wedding night.

We left on Sunday and drove an hour to meet my brother and his family. We were at the mall, so we went in a toy store to buy presents for hiyacynth's son and suddenly I heard my brother's voice. I looked up and he was there with the 18 month old. He put her down and she ran at me with her arms out, screeching. It was adorable. She is like a whole little person now, you guys! With a whole attitude to go with it. Idk where she got the Superstar Attitude, not from either of her parents, but lord that girl is a ham. We went to the lobby and read her the book I'd bought her. Apparently, she loves books! She is def a girl in this family then! After that, we went and had lunch and a really good visit. Despite it adding a few more hours to our day of driving, I am really glad we met up with them. I also got to hold the new nephew, and am still the only person in the family to do so! Ha!

We spent the remainder of the day talking about Dark Alec and how lame Logan getting the no-touching-virus was and how I refuse to call him anything but Robot!Legs - (am still unclear as to why he sometimes had robot-legs) - and how Alec wins everything and my undying love for Joshua, even though he is a dogboy. That night we watched some of Star Wars while we were falling asleep and The BFF seems to think I am strange because I find Ackbar attractive. Come on, he is a glorious shade of red, he's got those big beautiful eyes and his butt totally looks cute in that white uniform. Plus, total BAMF, baby! Also we talked about how my first crush was on Chewbacca and then I started going for Han Solo and well...Chewbacca + Han Solo and now somehow I want to marry Jayne Cobb. It makes sense.

The next day we just mostly talked about how we missed the cats and were ready to be home, so we could catch up on our TV. I had to find out what was happening on So You Think You Can Dance, after all.

Was that long enough? Did I miss anything else, liptonrm?

Oh, you want pictures?

I know, you all want baby pictures and wedding pictures, but...I have only been doing this LJ thing for a year. I'm still not comfortable putting up pictures of myself on the internet. And I certainly won't put up pictures of other people, because it's weird to be all putting them on my secret journal that is so secret I won't let them read it.

But how about a picture of the view from gorgeous downtown Stowe, Vermont instead?

Another one from downtown Stowe...

And this is our bedroom. Jared and Jensen could fit into that bed together, don't you think?

Steve and Danny could probably not fit into that bath together, but Dom and Elijah maybe could.

Why, yes, we are watching The Daily Show while on vacation. Because news doesn't stop happening just because we are on vacation. It doesn't even stop happening when Jon is on vacation.

The view from our balcony. That is unreal, isn't it?

See the little plaza with the mini-tower-esque thing on the top? That is the Irish Hippie restaurant.

And that concludes my epic series. I hope you enjoyed. I now have Zombies to kill.

ETA: Just thought I should give proper credit to The BFF for the amazing pictures. She's quite handy with the camera.

Amazing pictures and that wedding sounds adorable. I love when nieces suddenly grow up and are little people.

Let me know if you want book recs for her as I'm constantly giving my six and eight year old nieces books.
dodger_sister: alison lohmandodger_sister on July 24th, 2011 01:52 am (UTC)
Thank you! I should give credit where it is due and say that The BFF took all the pictures!

It was actually a really sweet wedding, because it was so low-key, it had a very intimate feeling about it.

It's weird to me to see how much the niece changes, since we only see her like twice a year - she is a totally different person everytime, like meeting her all over again. I wonder if it'll be like that even as she gets to be like 7 or 8 yrs old.

The books I bought her were both that little kid hard-paged books without the paper pages, so she can't tear them. One was the Canadian Alphabet book that I got because she is Canadian and there were some Frecnh words in it. She was obsessed with it, probbaly because there were horses. lol I also got her Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed, because what kid doesn't like that book? It turned out to be perfect, since she is a little monkey herself.

I know a lot of books for preschool age and older, since I worked in child care for years and also we were devourers of books growing up. At work, I was a big fan of the Give a Mouse a Cookie series. In my own childhood, I still have all the Sweet Pickles books (I think I may be missing two in the entire collection) and The Nephew is finally old enough to have those read to him. I really can't wait for them all to be old enough to read the Narnia books, but that's a ways off.

Right now the niece is going through an animal phase (she's recently been to the zoo, so everything is about animals). If you have any book recs for toddlers, because I don't know books for toddlers as well as I do older kids.

Danny and TWO other people could fit in that tub. Because he is bitty. :)

THANK YOU for the narration of the rest of the trip; what do you mean Logan has the no-touching virus? Is this X-men stuff, or something else? I'M SO CONFUSED!!! Probably because I barely slept last night and will probably get less than five hours tonight. Early Plane Flight Good Times.

BTW, not like you need MORE to read, but there are links to three lovely Firefly stories (or maybe it's four now) with 3x Inara/Jayne and one Kaylee/Jayne in my community aint_we_lust. No, I did not write them. Yes, they are hot and well-written. And hot.

Enjoy killing those zombies!
dodger_sister: dark alecdodger_sister on July 24th, 2011 02:01 am (UTC)
Ha! I went to look up Scott Caan's height, so I could be all, "Hey! He is 5 foot ten, he just looks bitty next to Alex O!" - but nope, Scott Caan is 5'5". Wow. I could still hang off him like a monkey though, because I am even shorter.

what do you mean Logan has the no-touching virus

lol From Dark Alec Angel! Logan as in Michael Weatherly, not The Wolverine. Wolverine also doesn't have Robot!Legs or a very special dogboy friend. But sadly for him, Michael Weatherly's character does.

with 3x Inara/Jayne and one Kaylee/Jayne

So it seems that I am not the only one who ships Jayne with everyone! Good to know!!

Enjoy killing those zombies!

Now the zombies are attempting to climb through my chimmey. Pesky little bastards.
Ironlily - Making My Marquevikingprincess on July 24th, 2011 08:21 pm (UTC)
(replying in reverse order here)

Don't the damned zombies know THEY CANNOT CLIMB?? (Unless they are Zombieland amusement park zombies. Those can climb with ferocity.)

Jayne is a bug burly delicious man who SHOULD be shipped with everyone.

Oh, I loved Michael Weatherly as Logan. Not as much when he portrays DiNozzo (spelling?) on NCIS. But Logan is filled with tasty deliciousness. And you know, people men who are paralyzed from the waist down can still get erections. Truth, baby! The whole touching virus was just an additional level of suck, though. Like they hadn't had enough trouble already!

He is a BITTY MAN. I could put him in my pocket and carry him around, because I am seven inches taller than he is. BIT-TEE. That is all. :P

dodger_sister: dark alecdodger_sister on August 2nd, 2011 05:27 am (UTC)
These zombies have pogo sticks - I think it is how they got onto the roof in the first place. The Zombieland zombies were hardcore, weren't they?

Jayne is a bug burly delicious man who SHOULD be shipped with everyone.

I agree! My sister said she never saw Jayne/Mal to be plausible and I was all, "It's Jayne. Everything is plausible." Now there is a man I can climb and hang off of like a monkey, for damn sure.

And you know, people men who are paralyzed from the waist down can still get erections.

Is that what was going on with him? He was paralyzed? Then how come sometimes he could walk? (you can see how much of Dark Alec I have watched - Jensen's season 1 ep, all of his scenes in S2 and all of Valarie Rae Miller's scenes in S2. I need to actually own season one so I can watch all of VRM's scenes in that too). I can't even stand to actually watch a full episode of NCIS because Tony Din-whatever irrates me so freaking much. I tried a whole episode once when Scott Grimes was a special guest star but I just couldn't do it.

He is a BITTY MAN. I could put him in my pocket and carry him around, because I am seven inches taller than he is.

So I could climb you and hang off of you like a monkey? Good to know. 8)
Ironlily - Making My Marquevikingprincess on August 2nd, 2011 12:08 pm (UTC)
Yes, Logan in Dark Angel got shot in the spine and, while he wasn't truly paralyzed, he sure couldn't walk well at all during recovery. There's this excellent scene where he has Max close her eyes and he stands up, after MUCH practice. And he starts walking again just in time for the no touching virus to TEAR THEM APART again. Completely sobworthy!

Mmmmm, Jayne "that's why I never kiss 'em on the mouth" Cobb, how I love you.

Yes, I suppose you could. LOL
Ironlily - Making My Marquevikingprincess on July 24th, 2011 08:22 pm (UTC)
BIG man. Jayne is a BIG man. I do not believe he has anything to do with bugs. Nope.
dodger_sister: jayne cobbdodger_sister on August 2nd, 2011 05:30 am (UTC)
Jayne is a BIG man. I do not believe he has anything to do with bugs. Nope.

That would be a whole nother kind of story. lol

And now I am picturing Jayne working in the "Bones" lab with Hodgins, the bug expert. Jayne accidentally lets all the African cockroaches out of their case and they eat all of the evidence and some ancient artifacts. Good job, Jayne. And now I am thinking about if the "Bones" people were in space and had to acquire passage on Serenity. - This is the inside of my head. Is it cozy in here?
Ironlily - Making My Marquevikingprincess on August 2nd, 2011 12:10 pm (UTC)
The inside of your head is filled with good things! I can also see Jayne in the movie version of Starship Troopers, keepin' it real abd being far more manly than Casper Van Diehn!
dodger_sister: jayne cobbdodger_sister on August 5th, 2011 02:48 am (UTC)
I can also see Jayne in the movie version of Starship Troopers, keepin' it real abd being far more manly than Casper Van Diehn!

Then Jayne would be fighting giant bugs and he would be a bug man after all. heehee And now I want Jayne to be in that movie (let's just go back in time and make that happen) because he would whomp those aliens so hardcore!

Jayne and his guns are all I really need in this world. /sigh/
Ironlily - Making My Marquevikingprincess on August 5th, 2011 02:08 pm (UTC)
You've read the things that eustacia_vye28 writes, right? She's got so much lovely River/Jayne in her journal! You really need to check it out!

I went over to her journal and besides the onslaught of River/Jayne, I saw River/Saffron, which I never knew I wanted until right when I saw that. That would be so much win! I tagged her entire Firefly section! Thanks!

LOL, so happy you had a lot of fun and everything went smoothly :-D
A bit sad about no happy couple pics *pouts*, but I get it (I just like seeing people being happy *shrugs*)

Love the pics! Awesome view, thank you for sharing :-D

I had a great trip, thank you!

I know, I seriously contemplated posting some pictures of myself, but I'm not quite there yet. The best one was of me and my niece (it's my favorite picture of me that has been taken in awhile) but I wouldn't do it without asking her dad first and then he'd be all, "You have a journal? Where?" and I'd be all, "Um, nothing, nevermind, don't go look at it!" lol

You're are very welcome, darling.

Awesome pictures! Sounds like you had an awesome trip - wish I could get someone to go on a road trip with me :( I love PLants VS Zombies!
dodger_sister: drunkardsdodger_sister on July 24th, 2011 02:09 am (UTC)
Thank you! It was a very awesome trip, indeed. I am very lucky in that The BFF was looking to do something nice for my birthday but because she had just graduated law school, she couldn't afford the Glee Concert tickets she wanted to get me, so instead she graciously offered to come on the trip and do all the driving. It pretty much was my luckiest day ever when she volunteered. :)

I have played copious amounts of Plants vs Zombies in the last 56 hours. Today my sister yelled at me, "Are you going to even look up from that game or ever speak or interact with us ever again?!"

To which I looked up and said, "What?" 8)

The pics are gorgeous, the trip sounds fab, and now I want to google strawberry creme martini".
dodger_sister: drunkardsdodger_sister on July 24th, 2011 02:16 am (UTC)
Thank you! I am so very happy to have gone on that trip!

Strawberry Cream Martini may be the best thing I have ever drank in my life. It was delicious and I can't wait until the next special occassion so I can get another one. (I only drink on very special occassions - does it being a Saturday night count?)

I found a recipe...

2 shots vanilla vodka
2 shots heavy cream
1/2 shot strawberry liqueur
1/2 shot strawberry nectar
Strawberry, for garnish
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher filled with ice.
Stir and strain into chilled martini glasses.
Garnish with a strawberry.

I now have Zombies to kill is possibly the best end to a post ever lol

hahaha, thank you! Well just because the Zombie Apocalypse is upon us, doesn't mean I will stop LJ-ing. But I do gotta get back to killing those zombies. (Really, I don't, as I may have been up until like 4am playing last night. It's very addictive).

Really amazingly pretty views, hope you had a great time hun :)

Thank you, it was an amazing view. We were all blahblah-talking as we walked in the room and then we stopped in our tracks and just stared out that balcony door. I had a marvelous time!
lizibabeslizibabes on July 24th, 2011 10:06 pm (UTC)
Killing zombie's at 4am sounds like a good night/morning to me.

I'm on holiday at the moment at there are some breathtaking views, but I have the photography skills of a trained chimo, thats not even fair on the chimp they'd probably take better pictures lol
It does look like the sort of place that would leave you speachless. I'd spend the whole time just staring at the views :)
ranua: plain sunsetranua on July 25th, 2011 03:12 am (UTC)
It looks like it was a fabulous room with a fantastic view! The BFF does take a very nice photo. :) What a wonderful looking place for a wedding. It all sounds like it went off perfectly.

It's okay about the lack of pics, I thought long and hard about putting up pics of The Boy and the only reason I went through with it was because he's already got a facebook with pics on and no one here knows his name or anything like that.
dodger_sister: alison lohmandodger_sister on July 26th, 2011 06:18 am (UTC)
She does take some good photos, doesn't she? She's been practicing. I told her I would be her subject anytime, if she would take a picture of me in my pink dress, because apparently some people don't believe I would ever wear a pink dress! I need proof!

The wedding did go very well and the staff at the place was super nice and helpful, making sure everything went smoothly. There was this older guy, in his fifties had a kind of rocker-look about him - who ran around and made sure everyone had everything they needed. He was showing us the back entrance - no stairs for me - to the dining room and he suddenly stopped and said, "Sweetheart, I gotta say, I love your arm tat." I was all, "Thank you, darling," but in my head I was all, "Ha! Old rocker dude likes my tat!! heehee"

Once my Canadian-brother put up pictures of my sister on Facebook without asking her and she freaked out, so I never put up other people's pictures for sure. I don't blame my sister - it was right before bed and she was in her PJs and not wearing a bra and holding the baby and they snapped a picture, which whatever, but then they put it on Facebook and she was in her PJs with no bra, seriously! And they have all the same friends and family on their Facebooks, so everyone my sister knew could see it and they linked it to her Facebook, which she uses for work. Crazy shit. She had to ask them to take it down before people saw it, since she had her Facebook listed on her resume.

so entertaining! Thank you for sharing the stories about your trip. I'm glad the wedding was as lovely as you hoped and that you got to spend so much time with your friend.

dodger_sister: alison lohmandodger_sister on August 13th, 2011 01:47 am (UTC)
It really was a great trip. It was worth every second in the car, even when I came back all scrunched up from too much sitting. We had such a good time, The BFF and I have decided to go on vacation together again next year - just some place closer this time!
