It's All Shiny.
So, you know how everything is kind of sucking for me right now? Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter that the room keeps tilting or that my laptop sucks. Doesn't matter that my mother is completely unreasonable (should a person who has had two hernia surgeries in less than six months keep lifting things?). Doesn't matter that my caseworker is demanding my in-depth bank statements (I haven't recently purchsed any porn but do I want my caseworker to see when I do?). Doesn't matter.

It's all shiny.

Because after I wrote that post about everything sucking, my sister went and got the mail. And in the mail was a letter addressed to The Sister, The BFF and myself.

From The Nephew.

He addressed it himself, with his little backwards letters and adorable little kid handwriting. He drew us each a picture and wanted to send them to us. We each got a picture of a house.

He is five years old and in kindergarten and already addressing and mailing his own things. How cute is it that he drew us pictures and sent them in the mail? The kid is a genius and a total sweetheart to boot.

Here is the picture he drew for me.

.

I got a blue house.

He wrote our 'to:' and 'from:' names on the back.

I love that kid.

He's adorable, and I am totally up for the blue house idea. ;)

Thanks! I would totally live in a house that color - it would be the brightest house on the block!

Thanks! Blue is his favorite color - I feel all honored that I got a blue house from him.

Well, his dad was a total heartbreaker but hopefully The Nephew won't be that much trouble, lol. He already is that kid that gets all the waitresses wrapped around his finger. ;)

Is it even reasonable that your therapist asks for your detailed bank statement? Why do they need to know that?

Mom is not being sensible, but damn, it's galling to feel like you can't do anything post-surgery, as you also know all too well.

Go, Nephew! I love how you have Kentucky bluegrass to go with the blue house. :P

Not my therapist, my social worker - so yes, they do need to know that. But I gave them a printout with my current balances on it and they said that wasn't enough, they need a detailed statement. Plus, pain in my ass that they won't accept something printed from the internet, that I have to go to the bank and get something from them.

I do see my mom's side of things, because I am the last person who lets others tell me what I can and can't do. But I feel like there is a difference between 'knowing your own body' and just plain being stubborn. Accepting limitations sucks, but it sucks less than ending up back in the hospital. It's just frustrating because she won't ever do anything the dotors tell her and then she is surprised when she doesn't get better. Parents - you can't tell them anything.

The Nephew is the cutest thing ever! I love how you have Kentucky bluegrass to go with the blue house ahahahaha Now I think that every time I look at the picture! :)

Ahhhhh... sorry, I read faster than I think, sometimes. :P It's pretty unreasonable that they won't accept an internet statement if that's how you do your banking, though. Maybe they think it's too easy to falsify one, or something. Bleah. Bureaucrats suuuuuuuuck.

This is exactly right. I know I'm weaker and stupider after my surgery two falls past, and it really bothers me, but there's not much I can do about it except take care of myself as much as possible. Just post-surgery, though, I was both bored and exhausted. It's a frustrating combination. And no, you can't tell parents anything. I mean you can, but they just never listen. LOL (just what they say about us, I'm sure)

Mmmmm, bluegrass! Visiting a Kentucky horsefarm when I was a little girl was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I got to ride the Tallest Thoroughbred in the World (probably not, but it seemed HUGE) and watch mares and foals play.

With the bank statements, I made sure that the form I printed had my name and bank numbers, so they could verify I wasn't lying about what account the numbers were from and they still weren't satstified. It's just such a pain because they give you like a week to get everything together.

I've never been to an actual horsefarm - that sounds lovely. The people who lived down the road from me as a kid had some horses and I remember watching the litle ones learn how to walk.

Graaah, picky bureaucrats are picky.

Our vacations were always about being packed into the pickup truck with the over-cab camper and driving across the nation for about a month. I saw many, many things in summers as a kid. And have been to every state but Alaska. (Hawaii was achieved with a family vacation on Mom and Dad's twenty-fifth anniversary.)

Doesn't matter that my mother is completely unreasonable And our parents spent all our lives telling us what to do and the minuet we try to return the favor all we get is 'I know what I'm doing'

my caseworker is demanding my in-depth bank statements arh, government bureaucracy, that is a sign of evil in the world if ever I did see it.

Most importantly, The Nephew is freaking amazing. What a doll, sending you ladies pictures. That is an excellent blue house. =D

My mother still tries to tell me what to do about my medical care! It's weird because when I was a kid, my mother did everything about my medical stuff that the doctors told her too. And if I would question it, she would tell me, "Well, the doctor knows best." Yet now, she won't do anything the doctor tells her too. /shakes head/

government bureaucracy, that is a sign of evil in the world if ever I did see it.

I know if I want their money, I have to jump through all their hoops. But I don't understand why a statement with my current balance isn't enough. Thank goodness I don't subscribe to a porn site for them to see in my bank statements! ;)

My sister-in-law said The Nephew was drawing away at the table and then he marched right over to her and said, " Mom, I need to send these in the mail." All his idea - my little man!
