When His Body Parts Reattached Themselves.
So, today my aunt took me to therapy and when she came back to pick me up, she had my cousin's kids in the car. The Boy Cousin is about to turn twelve and The Little Girl Cousin is almost eight. We had this conversation upon seeing an ambulance at one of the old folks homes.

Boy: That's because it is Friday the 13th. It is all bad luck and evil.
Me: I think he may be on to something there.
Girl: Yes! Because there is this boy and he is so bad and he is all like, "I am going to kill everyone in the whole world!"
Me: You know that's just a movie, right, babe?
Boy: Yeah, it is, but still on Friday the 13th like all the bad luck we can get will happen and we will have bad weather and it makes evil all like crazy.
Me: You are looking at it all wrong. Friday the 13th isn't about evil. It's about the perfect excuse to watch scary movies all night.
Boy: Oh! Yeah, I like that thinking.
Girl: Me too!
Boy: Except we can't watch scary movies at Grandma's house.
Aunt: No, we cannot.
Me: Not even The Monster Squad? I have it on DVD. It's a kid's monster movie.
Aunt: No.
Me: Do you remember that movie, dude? With Dracula and The Wolfman and Frankenstein Monster?
Boy: Oh yeah! But Frankenstein was on the good side.
Aunt: No scary movies.
Me: It's not scary.
Boy: Remember when Wolfman blew up and then his body parts reattached themselves?

He was so not helping his own cause! She wouldn't take the DVD, in the end. It actually has some bad language in it which may not have been appropriate for The Little Girl Cousin, but considering when she was a toddler and would wake up in the middle of the night, her dad would rock her back to sleep while watching "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", I figure it would probably be okay for her to see Monster Squad.

In TV News - who saw the season finale of Psych?! Holy Shit. Are they serious? And it doesn't come back until the fall! I can't wait that long to find out what happens. They ended on a cliff-hanger! They never end on a cliff-hanger! What is happening in my world?! It can't be. It just can't.

In Sum: I think The Sister and I are going to see "Cabin In The Woods" this weekend. If we don't wear ourselves out first with the bazillionity errands we have to run.

(Why, yes, I did change my 'horror' icon from Josh Hartnett in "30 Days of Night" to a "Monster Squad" icon - what do you mean 'that's not horror'?)

LJ's new cut marker is annoying. Just saying.

Enjoy Cabin in the Woods!

Comment hijack! There's a way to fix it, if you're using an S2 style. I'd be happy to tell you. I used it to fix mine. :)

I would love that! Is flexible squares s2?

I'll PM you the details. :)

Well, darn! Good luck making it this weekend.

LJ is constantly updating things that we don't need updated. At least annoying is the worst thing about it - so many things they release don't actually work. (I say this as LJ is giving me grief about even replying to this comment)

We didn't make it to the movie. We left it as our reward at the end of the weekend for doing All The Things, but we were off schedule just enough to not make the movie. Boo. We will try again next weekend.

Erm. Reply above? :D

See? I told you LJ was being a bitch! Or, now that I think about it, maybe it was just my internet connection what with it being a giant windstorm outside. But yeah, I hope to make it to the movie this weekend. Probably better not to go see a newly released horror movie on Friday the 13th weekend anyways - bet the crowds would have been crazy.

Oops. Are you sure he wanted to watch horrors. Isn't he secretly scared? ;)

I'm kinda sorry I didn't enjoy Friday the 13th by watching Friday the 13th, but we had a visit, so I couldn't. I watched some horror with alligator, though, and that was pretty bloody, if nothing else.

Naw, not The Boy Cousin. This kid's favorite movie when he was 2 was Jurassic Park. Now The Nephew is too young for The Monster Squad (he did recently tell us that he is scared of zombies, so I'm thinking the Dracula in this movie would be too much for him).

I can't actually watch Friday The 13th - the idea of someone coming into my dreams freaks me out! Was the alligator movie "Lake Placid"? I love that movie. I sadly didn't celebrate Friday the 13th with any scary movies either. When I was a kid, my little brother and I celebrated every Friday the 13th with a scary movie marathon - I miss it.

I celebrated Friday the 13th in my own way. I went to get a tattoo. ;)

Isn't that Nightmare on Elm Street? I don't like these movies either.

It was Croc. Crappy, I saw only a couple of minutes.

dodger_sister: horrordodger_sister on April 16th, 2012 07:28 pm (UTC)
You got a tattoo!!! That's awesome. What of? I am behind on LJ - are there or will there be pictures at some point?

Isn't that Nightmare on Elm Street? I don't like these movies either.

You are right! Which one is Friday the 13th then - is it the one with the dude in the hockey mask? Wait...I know because they remade it with Jared Padalecki in it! I got it now. The only one I know for sure is "Halloween" because we watch the last one (H20 with Josh Hartnett) like every Halloween - not because it's scary but because JOsh wears a school uniform. /shakes head/ We have priorities.
Jojo: Movie ⇒ Friday the 13th [b/w]jojothecr on April 16th, 2012 07:34 pm (UTC)
There's a pic. ;)

Friday is the one with Jay, yep. My icon, too. The hockey mask, yes. I loved Josh in The Faculty, he was a bit more of a bad-ass there. ;)
dodger_sister: horrordodger_sister on April 16th, 2012 07:52 pm (UTC)
Awesome! I love the flow of it - like how it isn't just a straight up picture, but is like a pattern that makes a picture. Very cool, babe.

The Faculty is one of my favorite movies! It is just so much fun. For years, before I knew Josh's name, I called him "that hot ass with the hot car". lol My sister is really into Josh (was big in The Faculty fandom for awhile) so she has seen every movie he has ever made, which means I have seen every movie he has ever made. If you want a good horror movie - "30 Days of Night" with Josh is fucking terrifying.

"30 Days of Night" with Josh is fucking terrifying.
I know, I always cry. It's a damn good movie. Except the ending, which is... well, rather sad.

Thank you. I admit it's not an original, found on Google, but the prettiest I found. I wasn't brave enough to risk something original from the artist.
dodger_sister: horrordodger_sister on April 17th, 2012 03:05 am (UTC)
I saw "30 Days of Night" at the theater the first time and I was terrified. The couple in front of us left like twenty minutes into the movie, they were so freaked out.

Except the ending, which is... well, rather sad.

I know. Man, when he is just sitting there with his wife waiting for the sun to come up...damn.

I wasn't brave enough to risk something original from the artist.

Oh, me neither. I searched the internet for some ideas and then put a couple of designs together and kind of made my own. Luckily I know an artist who clean it all up for me, because my design was good but my drawing was not.

We didn't make it to the movie. It was suppose to be our reward for doing All The Things this weekend, but we weren't finished doing all the things, so we missed the movie. We'll try again next weekend. I'll make a post when we go see it.

I WANT TO SEE CABIN IN THE WOODS!

Hrm. Yes. Behold my frustration over my country's continued inability to get Joss Whedon movies to the cinema. I think I'll have to wait until it's released on DVD, and that's just.. urgh. At least The Avengers premiers soon and I'll get my Joss fix.

Remember when Wolfman blew up and then his body parts reattached themselves?
Lol. Yeah, I don't think I'd let kids watch that, either. Not helping your cause at all, Boy Cousin. :P

I almost used the word "racy" in this comment. I think I've been reading too much Sherlock fanfic, my vocabulary is turning British. :P

WANT TO SEE CABIN IN THE WOODS!

I know, bb! I thought about you when my sister suggested we go see it. I am glad at least that you won't have to wait for The Avengers! Since everyone in the whole world (by which I mean 'the internets') will be talking about it and writing fic for it.

Lol. Yeah, I don't think I'd let kids watch that, either. Not helping your cause at all, Boy Cousin.

It sounds really bad when he says it like that! But it is actually a really cheesy movie. My brother watched it all the time when he was a kid. It's made for like ten year olds - it's kind of like those old 1950s monster movies meets The Goonies. But he wasn't really helping me sell it to his grandma. lol

hahahaha It's like me when I was reading the Harry Potter books and I kept saying everything was 'bloody brilliant'!

God yeah. Me and the roommate have tickets for premiere day, so at least the internets won't be able to spoil me too much. As opposed to Cabin, which people are talking about ALL the time on my Tumblr dash. Damn them. :P

It's like me when I was reading the Harry Potter books and I kept saying everything was 'bloody brilliant'!
lol, awesome. And I found myself referring to a pair of police officers as "coppers" in my head today. And "bollocks" is an awesome word. And "tosser". I'm turning into an Anglophile. :P
dodger_sister: horrordodger_sister on April 17th, 2012 03:08 am (UTC)
I am surprised the internets are all talking about Cabin in the Woods. I expect it from a fannish movie like Avengers, but in general not so much horror movies geting spoiled by the internets. Must be really good then.

I'm turning into an Anglophile.

hahahahaha Yep. I noticed some British-isms creeping into my writing last night and I was like, "This is about two American FBI agents - not John and Sherlock!!" lol

PS: I love the word 'tosser' - idk why but I wish I could say it more without getting such strange looks from people.

I haven't actually gotten spoiled for it, but everyone is squeeing over it, the bastards. :P Apparently a bunch of Swedish Whedon fans have started a campaign to get it to Sweden, so I live it hope. :)

"This is about two American FBI agents - not John and Sherlock!!"
Haha, I'll probably have to think about that when I write my D/C BB. Wouldn't want Dean to start calling people wanker. Not that it's likely to happen, but you never know with my brain.

I love the word 'tosser'
Me too! It's an awesome word. :)

lol, extolling the virtues of the gory, scariness of the movie will not convince the adult to let you see it. Can't fault the Boy Cousin for trying tho.

'Cabin in the Woods' is that the one that looks like 'Cube' but with teens in the woods? Idk, I only see movie previews in fast forward on the dvr. Anyway, hope you and your sister had a good time.

Lol, I know. He didn't grasp that I was working an angle for him. It sounds way scarier than it actually is - the kid watched it for the first time when he was 5. (though it wasn't appropriate then because of the language, not the scare factor).

Cabin in the Woods is a Joss Whedon-made movie where five kids go to a cabin in the woods for vacation and are being filmed/watched and the people basically are taking bets on them and making scary things happen - kind of pyschological like. I won't say more without spoiling it. I compared it as The Hunger Games meets The Evil Dead. Scary and classic horror movie tropes and also fun and hysterically funny and just all around awesome fun.

I only watch ads in fast forward on the Tivo too but I had heard about it via the internets so when I saw an ad go flashing by I stopped and watched it. Plus, I saw my boy Fran Kranz from 'Dollhouse', so that made me stop fast-forwarding too.
