Brothers A-Peekin'!
Today is my sister's birthday!! YAY! I am sure I will have stories for you next week about The Nephew and her birthday and the party he is 'helping' me throw for her. (I say 'helping' with quotes around it because his helping is more like 'demanding I have a party so he can come'. The BFF is really doing all the work - by which I mean 'bringing the cupcakes'. I am apparently very fond of 'quotes' tonight).

In the meantime, have a picture and a story about my sister's kitties.

When they were little (and bear in mind that sometimes when I say 'little' I actually mean little, as we found them abandoned in the road at the age of three weeks) they liked to get in my dresser drawers. When I was putting away laundry they would 'help' by climbing inside and refusing to get out. They were so cute, I usually didn't have the heart to remove them and thus it often took me two or three days to put my clothes away, because every time I tried they would come running back to get in my dresser again. James T. Kirk was the biggest fan of the dresser drawer. He liked to get in and have me shut it so it was only open a crack. As long as he could peek out and see that I was still here, he would be totally fine. He would lay down and take a three hour nap and when he was done, Kirk would let me know by sticking his little paw out the opening, so I could let him out. Pippin also liked to get in the dresser drawer but mostly I think because his brother did and they are BROTHERS! and they must do everything together.

Here they are playing a game of peek from my pajama drawer.

Peek! Peek!

Also, I got my sister these presents for her birthday, which she will be opening tomorrow. #1, #2 and #3.

The children's book and the movie will be good presents for her to open with The Nephew. I didn't plan it that way because I didn't know he was coming, but that worked out well. He won't care at all about The Pocket Guide but I think she'll love it best. And since The Nephew will be here, I guess we can watch the movie tomorrow night then.

That is all for tonight. Night all.

Adorable kitty faces!

Oh, man... I kind of want to read the That's Not Your Mommy Anymore. It looks delightful!

Adorable kitty faces!

Thanks! We love our little boys!

It's awesome! "When she bites the clerk at the store - that's not your Mommy anymore. When she's dragging across the floor - that's not your Mommy anymore." The pictures in it are great too.

I did the 'inside the cover' peek that Amazon allows. So much fun!

Aww, that picture is adorable. I hope the party's fun, your nephew has the best ideas.

Can you even imagine a time when Kirk and Pippin were small enough to both fit in one of my dresser drawers?

The party was good! My brother and sis-in-law stayed for dinner too and after his bath, The Nephew helped my sister put together the Lord Of The Rings legos she got for her birthday from The BFF. (they are currently on the mantle over the fireplace so you'll probably get to see them next time you come down).

Ohhhh, the peek-a-boo kitties! What a sweet story.

Peek-A-Boo Kitties! That's what they are! lol They still try to get in the dresser drawer - they don't understand this nonsense I tell them about how they are too big now.

Happy birthday to your sister and OMG that is the cutest story ever!! I love the kittie pic and so adorable the way they like to hide, so cute.

Thanks! I think my sis had a pretty nice birthday.

The kitties are too damn cute for their own good! Kirk still loves to hide in things - sometimes I fluff up the blankets on my bed and shove pillows under there to make a little blanket-fort for him to hide in. He gets under the covers and sleeps there for hours.

Belated happy birthday to your sister, dear.

Aww, look at those adorable little kittty faces peeking out. :D

checking out your gift selections I ended up adding the Preppers Pocket guide to my wishlist *facepalm*

Thanks! I think she had a pretty nice birthday weekend.

Peek! Peek! Cutest babies ever and they know it.

The Preppers Guide is awesome! It is actually quite useful. Besides your standard apocalypse scenerios, it has things like what to do in a blackout. Or how to prepare for a major global financial disaster. And things like how to clean and reuse your water supply and how to make your own soap. Just a bunch of random little things you might not really think of, but should.

Dude, all I could think of when you did all those "quotes" was Cas and his "rusty" "people skills". Awesome. :)

Adorable cats are adorable! I love the photo, they are just so cute peeking out of the drawer.

Cute kittens!

I love that you gave your sister that disaster preparedness book -- I had that on my Amazon wishlist, but the only people who bought me anything from that were my dad and my step-mom. They got me an SF walking tour book, which I wanted, and an LSAT preparation handbook, which I must have accidentally added to my list. Very thoughtful of them, but did my dad ever consider that if I had intended to go to LAW SCHOOL, I might have mentioned it to him?

Cute kittens!

Thanks, we think so too! Kirk has recently rediscovered the dresser drawer only he doesn't realize that he is way too big for it now! I have cute pictures of it if I could only figure out how to transfer photos from my phone to my computer.

The Preppers book is so much more than like an apocalypse book too. My sister has already started implementing things it recommends in the book. Like the other day she made photocopies of all the things in her wallet in case it ever gets stolen - that way you aren't trying to remember what all your cards were so you can call and cancel them - you have all the info photocopied. And things like what to do in a blackout, what to do if your bank crashes, what to do if your water supply is cut off for a period, even basic house maintenance things. Plus, of course, natural disasters and terrorist attacks and the like. Very useful. The Sister was mostly thrilled to find the word "Prepper" because it sounds less crazy and doesn't evoke images of people in bunkers and such. ;)

Omg. I guess he was just really, really hoping you wanted to go to law school. lol

I just email them to myself. Do you have email set up on your phone?

Have you seen this series:

I think I need to find this and watch it!

dodger_sister: apocalypsedodger_sister on August 1st, 2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
I don't have email on my phone. It is a new phone this year but it is just a flip phone, not an Iphone or anything. I don't have the ability to send pictures to people or text message even or anything like that. But it is free (my dad pays for me on his family plan and bought the phone) so I like it! The cord that came with it though looks like it may hook up like a USB, so I just have to dig that out and try it.

Doomsday Preppers, huh? I looked it up and I think they are using the word 'Prepper' wrong. The cool thing about 'prepper' as a word is that it gives a name to people who are prepared without conjuring up the image of a person building a bunker - which these people seem like they are. It would be fun to watch though - I seem to recall my sister showing an interest in watching it but we don't get the National Geographic channel. Boo. Let me know if you watch it and if it is any good.
